In 1992, we put together our very first cookbook, compiled from hundreds of these recipes and, the rest, as they say, is history.

101 Hearty Recipes

When I first received Gooseberry Patch 101 Hearty Recipes I flipped thru the book trying to find something I could make for dinner from the stuff I had in the house already. Unfortunately, I hadn’t been to the store in a while but I came across a few recipes that looked great that I could do. However, when I came to page 48: Mom’s One-Pot Pork Chop Dinner, I knew I had to go to the store! It just sounded so delicious and the picture looked amazing! Off to the store we went! This was so easy to make too! All you need is butter, pork chops, potatoes, carrots, onion, mushroom soup, and water. Total cooking and prep time is less than an hour and not much work is involved. The recipe makes 4 servings as well.

While we were at the store I found a great deal on chicken thighs, so I came home and looked thru the cook book to see if they had any recipes calling for thighs, to my delight they had Roasted Chicken & Apples. The smell while this was cooking was divine!!

While looking thru the book my son saw page 77 and said “We have to make that!” Of course it was pizza, but not any pizza, it was Deep-Dish Sausage Pizza. This pizza turned out amazing! It was nice and thick, and full of flavor! All the directions were very easy to follow and the pictures are great! Needless to say we were ecstatic about making so many of the recipes!

Gooseberry Patch

Back in 1984, we were next-door neighbors raising our families in the little town of Delaware, Ohio. Two moms with small children, we were looking for a way to do what we loved and stay home with the kids too. We had always shared a love of home cooking and making memories with family & friends and so, after many a conversation over the backyard fence, Gooseberry Patch was born.

It’s been over 25 years since Vickie and Jo-Ann created Gooseberry Patch while sitting around their kitchen table. Now bestselling authors of many amazing homestyle, family friendly cookbooks, they still have that small town heart. Everyone who begins by picking up a Gooseberry Patch book is a part of their family and tradition making memories of their own around their kitchen tables.

101 Hearty Recipes is great. It has something everyone is sure to love. This book is very durable, it has a sturdy spiral binding and thick covers. 112 pages full of yummy recipes for the whole family! The contents page has every recipe dived into 4 tasty chapters; Fun & Filling, Speedy & Satisfying, Casual & Comforting, and Baked & Buttery.

I’ve got quite the list of recipes on my “To Bake” list: Red Velvet Cake Balls, Peanut Buttery Chocolately Cups, Open-Faced Lone Star Burgers, Raspberry Upside-Down Cake and Frosted Cherry Drops. I could go on and on, but I these I must do quickly!

Needless to say, I won’t have to think of any dinner ideas for a while. The biggest challenge is gonna be what to make next!
