These days, not only do most adults own a cell phone, most kids do as well. Many parents want to keep in touch with their children while they are out of the house and away from them so that they can be assured they are safe. To that end, there are many smart phones on the market that are kid friendly that are appropriate for the younger generation. Here are a few of the best choices.
Finnish brand Nokia is one of the best in general for cell phones. Their devices are also very kid friendly as they include features that are easy to use, such as nice color screens and keypads that are well defined with keys that are big enough for anyone with smaller fingers to use. Texting is a breeze on Nokia cell phones as the C2-01. It is a feature phone with a candy bar form that has all the most basic features so that it is easy to use, such as answering your calls with a single touch of a button.
The Pantech Breeze III is a very easy to use flip phone that is great for kids. It is affordable, offers great call quality and has a nice keyboard for texting. It is excellent for a first time cell phone and especially for younger kids so that you can easily keep in touch with them when you aren’t together and want to know what they are up to. The Breeze III can also connect to 3G web speeds, uses Opera as its browser and has a decent battery life.
LG Optimus Slider
The LG Optimus Slider is a great entry level Android powered smartphone for preteens and teens. It has a 3.2 inch touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard that slides out from the side of the device, built in apps such as Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube and a 3 megapixel camera.
LG Rumor 2
Another good phone for kids is the LG Rumor 2. It has a full QWERTY keyboard, good call reception and a decent battery life. It is a small feature phone that is good to slip into a pocket but unfortunately lacks 3G web connectivity. The Rumor 2 is a good device for messaging, however, which makes it convenient for a parent to stay in touch.
The Samsung M320 is an ergonomically designed flip cell phone that is excellent for kids. It includes great features such as voice dialing, which means your child can simply say “Call Mom” to call you and text and picture messaging. It is also capable of recording voice notes and has an organizer built in.
