~I participated in an Ambassador program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Kohl’s. I received Kohl’s gift cards and sample pieces to facilitate my posts and as a thank you for participating.~
I’m really excited to share with you a few pieces from Peter Som for his DesigNation Collection at Kohl’s! There is a very relaxed and effortless beauty to his style that is inspired by the charm of St. Barth’s. With bright colors against bold patterns in flowing fabrics, his pieces are statements all on their own.
The first piece in the collection is a Striped Hem Halter Dress made with a fabric so fine it feels like silk. I do have to say that unless you want to have a Marilyn Monroe moment, the dress isn’t conducive to very windy days. However, it is wonderful for the sunny spring and summer.
The small braided black belt with the metal studs form fits the dress to the waist. Without it, it sometimes feels like wearing a gentle breeze that just happens to have very intricate patterns. The majority of the dress is covered in a circular braided design that reminds me of Romanesque Architecture; whereas the bottom hem has strikingly thick black and white stripes. The lines draw the eye towards the legs, giving a very flirty aspect to the ensemble.
When thinking about accessories, I wanted to match the bold lines of the dress while accentuating the legs with heels or wedges. For this I chose the Apt. 9 Two Tone Textured Kite Earrings, Stainless Steel Black Ion Cuff Bracelet and the Dana Buchman Banded Wedge Sandals in Black. To offset the black and white, it would be a beautiful compliment to have a bright red clasp!
The next piece is the Peter Som Romper which is a dynamic mix of color stripes. The bright hues and dark lines reminded me of our faux Mondrian painting in our foyer. This is a really fun outfit to wear that definitely shows off the legs and doesn’t need much in the statement accessories department. Just as all the pieces I’ve reviewed, the fabric is light and airy for the season.
The center of the romper is a stretch waist which makes it easier to take on and off as well as allows room for comfort. There are also 3 black buttons on one shoulder and pockets that add a playful touch!
The accessories I would choose with the Romper are the Apt. 9 Metal Mesh Stretch Belt (any thick black belt will work perfectly), Mudd Two Tone Bangle Bracelet Set and the Apt. 9 T-Strap Thong Sandals in Black.
My absolute, most favorite top ever is the Pineapple Top. I’m pretty sure it was made from heaven. The fabric is so thin and soft (what I can only assume is a very fine jersey style) that you’d honestly never want to take it off. Ever.
The Pineapple on the front is a mix of pinks, yellows, oranges and greens. It’s the perfect top for jeans (shorts, capri’s, cuffed, regular) and could also go with a fun spring knee length skirt! I generally wear it under my light cardigan. It’s a lovely everyday shirt!
You could choose almost anything to compliment the Pineapple Top accessory wise, but the moment I saw these Bucco Sergia Platform Wedges I knew they were meant to go together!
