I know there are a lot of you out there that like the American Girl Franchise, so I thought I would let you know about the DVD coming out, An American Girl: McKenna Shoots for the Stars. I really thought of my niece, who is very much into Cheerleading, when I saw the trailer. It looks like a really great movie for young girls out there that have a hard time believing in themselves.
Meet McKenna Brooks, a determined and confident young gymnast, in this all-new modern-day adventure. McKenna is on track to make the regional competitive gymnastics team but off-track in school, where she’s suddenly struggling to keep up. When her teacher suggests a tutor, she’s embarrassed and desperate to keep it a secret from her friends. Then a bad fall at the gym sidetracks her from her favorite sport. Will she recover in time to make the team? Can she succeed in school, too? McKenna needs to focus on her strengths to overcome her challenges – and, with the help of family and friends, find a way to believe in herself again.
The movie is based off the “McKenna” stories by Mary Casanova and so far it looks to have a great cast! Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding, I Hate Valentines Day) plays the Mom and I have always loved her. Ian Ziering (90210) as the Dad, Cathy Rigby (Peter Pan) as the Gymnast Teacher, Kerris Dorsey (Moneyball) as the Tutor and entering a new star Jade Pettyjohn as McKenna.
An American Girl: McKenna Shoots for the Stars releases on July 3rd, 2012 and will be sold exclusively in Walmart and American Girl stores.
