Reading is a big thing in our house. My son has always been a fan of books and now that we have a little girl, she loves them as well. You can imagine my excitement when Blue Apple Books told me they were going to send me all 9 of their new Balloon Toons line, four of which are unreleased! These books are right up our alley, they are comic books for kids. With a 1 year old and 4 year old these books are great, the colors and illustrations are wonderful for kids. As soon as we opened the package my son made me get to reading them right away! We read 4 right away, followed by a snack and then read 3 more!
My son’s favorite book was “Zoe and Robot- Let’s Pretend”, by Ryan Sias. It is about a little girl trying to teach her robot how to pretend, and the silly things they encounter along the way. My son is a big fan of robots so I knew this book would be a hit!
My daughter loves cats, so she really enjoyed “The super crazy cat dance” by Aron Nels Steinke. This was a really cute book, it was about a little girl trying to teach her friend how to do the super crazy cat dance, and the proper way to “Roar”.
Also included in this collection is “Rick & Rack and The Great Outdoors” by Ethan Long, it is about a Raccoon and a Moose doing everyday outdoor activities that humans usually do, very cute! “Doggie Dreams” by Mike Herrod, is a book about the things dogs dream about, if in fact they dream. “Adopt a Glurb” by Elise Gravel is quite cute, how can you not love a Glurb after reading this book! (You’ll have to read the book to find out what a Glurb is! Hint: Its a love able creature)
Four more books came in this collection, they are due to release in the fall. I was excited to get a sneak peak at these new books. They include; “The Super-Duper Dog Park” by Aron Nels Steinke, it is everything a dog could wish for! “Doctor Bugspit”, by Elise Gravel all I’m gonna say about this is “I’m glad he’s not my doctor!” “The Totally Awesome Epic Quest of the Brave Boy Knight”, by Pranas T. Naujokaitis, this was my son’s second favorite, it is really cute! It is all about a little boy and his friend Butterscotch and all the things they encounter along the way! “Prickles vs The Dust Bunnies”, by Daniel Cleary, a funny story about a mouse that likes dust bunnies, and a cat who does not!
If you have a book lover in your house, or are trying to encourage your child to learn to enjoy reading, these books are a must! The pictures are enjoyable to look at and the stories are fun! The words are easy enough that young readers will have no problem reading it. Overall these books were enjoyable for both my kids and me!
