My oldest started kindergarten yesterday and so the great lunch box packing saga has begun. Sure, I have tons of cute ideas that I plan on doing throughout the year but I am also realistic. Some mornings I will be rushing to get us out the door so that we won’t be late. On those days I need easy lunch box ideas that I can toss in her lunch bag really quick and still get us to school on time.
Chips and soda are of course a big no-no, instead here is my list of quick and tasty items to throw in my daughter’s lunch bag.
Coco Joy Kids is a new and naturally fruit-flavored pure coconut water for kids. I like it because it contains no added sugar or preservatives. Coco Joy and Coco Joy Kids are made purely from fresh, young green coconuts from Southeast Asia. With the current Planes Fire & Rescue design on them both my daughters wanted to drink them and they quickly discovered they like coconut water. I like seeing coconut water marketed for kids as I too enjoy drinking it.
Another tasty and healthy drink I can pack is the Sparkling ICE zero-calorie beverage. Combining naturally flavored mountain spring water, fruit juice, vitamins and antioxidants, it is the lightly-carbonated beverage that my girls love to drink. The new lemonade ones are my family’s favorite flavor!
I am a long time fan of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They were a staple of my childhood. With the new Welch’s PB&J Snacks they bring together the great tastes of Peanut Butter and Jelly in an easy-to-eat, no-mess treat. The round bite-sized snacks feature a chewy center made with real fruit, surrounded by a delicious peanut butter coating. They include 100% of the daily recommended value of Vitamin C, are gluten free, a good source of Vitamins A & E and are made with natural flavors and colors. These addictive little morsels come in four varieties – concord grape or strawberry centers, surrounded by either creamy or crunchy peanut butter. My favorites are the strawberry ones with crunchy peanut butter.
Lance, the snack food brand that has been around for over 100 years, now has more than 20 varieties of cracker sandwiches available. Some of the varieties include ToastChee, Whole Grain, Cracker Creations, XtraFulls and BoldsTM. These tasty nomnom snacks do not contain high fructose corn syrup or preservatives and have 0 grams of trans fat. The two varieties I received below are made with baked, crispy crackers and filled with real peanut butter or cheese. These are super filling!
Sending a carefully-packed lunch is the best way to ensure a child gets the most from the school day because that is the time for them to replenish their bodies and get energy. These tasty and quick items are perfect for those back-to-school lunch boxes.
