I had to fill out all this paperwork when I signed him in with all his information and handed over an Epi-Pen for the school in a “just in case” situation. I started thinking when I saw these the other day about how great it would be to have this in his backpack and his lunchbox as a reminder, or for other kids (like his classmate who also has an Epi-Pen for Asthma) who have after-school care or are staying with relatives. Having a child with serious allergies makes me more aware of making sure he is safe no matter where he is, who he is with and no matter the situation that may come up. They also have flat business style cards that an older child could carry in their purse or wallet as well. Just one little Allergy Card could be, literally, a life-saver.
Speaking of food, there are also lunch box notes; which I thought were kind of adorable. If my son were older and could read notes in his lunchbox, I would definitely get these. What a great way to say, “Have a great day at school!” Or “Good luck on your test! You’ll do a great job!” Or even, “Don’t forget you have practice after school.” The last being for those teens, like my son, who seem to forget everything.
Contact Cards are great for older kids, those in high-school and College. It helps to not only make new friends, but to also give a way for those new friends to contact you. I don’t know how many times my son has come home talking at long length about a new friend of theirs and then not remembering their name and forgetting to get their phone number. Having a contact card could save your teen a lot of trouble, especially if they are wanting to stay at this unknown persons house.
