Some of you that have been around awhile know I have back problems; specifically arthritis in my lower spine and a disc closing on my sciatic nerve. I had a difficult birthing with my youngest that caused several health issues, but this one has been my misfortune for the last 3 years. I’ve been to chiropractors, seen multiple doctors, been through physical therapy and have had multiple painful shots; none of which goes into the medications I’ve had to trial and error on throughout the years. I finally got to a point where things were manageable and the only time I really have trouble is when I’m driving or sitting for long periods of time. So during a search I had come across BackSac and they were delighted to have me write a review!
Leigh Anne Nash has been a Physical Therapist for for Twelve years in the Atlanta, GA area. In 2007, she received Clinical Specialization as a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. In 2010, Leigh Anne became certified as a Pilates rehab instructor. Currently, she works for Atlanta Falcons Physical Therapy Centers in Suwanee, GA. After working with hundreds of patients with both long term and recent onset of back pain, Leigh Anne developed the inspiration that led to the creation of the Back Sac.
Most of us with back problems (I know there are many of you out there!) generally have issues when we’re sitting down for any extended time, or sleeping, mainly because when getting up we have to stretch the bone and muscles that cause us the problems in the first place. There have been mornings I’ve had to literally ‘roll’ out of bed and often after my son has sat on my lap for hours in the morning trying to wake up himself, I can barely stand to get back up. The BackSac is designed specifically for this problem. It supports your spine in the resting position and because of it’s design you can adjust it to fit your comfort. It also works for when you are sleeping and need to support your knee so your spine is straight. I love that!
The Back Sac is designed to fill the gap between your low back and a chair, or surface you are sitting on. It also fills the curve in your neck while lying down or reclining.
The design is absolutely unique compared to other back support cushions on the market today! Most support cushions are made to fill the spinal curves by molding to the average person’s neck or low back curve. The Back Sac acknowledges that your spinal curves are probably not average.
The Back Sac uses an air bladder that intentionally contains a larger potential volume than the area it needs to support. A small amount of air, relative to the potential volume is blown into the air bladder. The air can then travel into whatever space needs to be supported. As you shift your body, the air inside follows your movement, providing dynamic support!
I have noticed an incredible difference while driving or riding in the passenger seat, also when resting here (as I am) with my son on my lap. I don’t feel the need to have to try and re-stretch myself out and a lot of my soreness from resting is gone. I can’t say it eliminates pain because people with back pain know that it’s just something that exists there, but it does help enormously with the soreness from resting or remaining idle for periods of time, this includes sleeping!
It is definitely worth the purchase and I think would make an amazing, incredible gift for a friend or loved one (or just for yourself!) suffering from back pain during the Holidays. We do so much running around, so much driving and barely get the time to sit down but when we do the BackSac would be such a wonderful tool to relax with.
Purchase: You can purchase the BackSac for $24.95 or see if there is a retailer in your area!
