You’ve seen “Danger: Beware of Dog” signs, but have you ever seen a “Danger: Beware of Peacock?” I need to get one because I have very aggressive peacocks. I have guard Peacocks that alert me when people pull into the driveway and let the dog know when the coyotes are in the yard. Peacocks are not dangerous you say? Please tell that to the three beautiful deer that wandered in my yard.
I was talking to my sister on the phone and gazing out the window the other afternoon when I saw a mother deer walking up the trail with her two babies. I was admiring their coats and how smooth and pretty they were. All the deer I have seen in Washington have rough coats, but these were different, possibly because we have had a dry spell. I noticed they were heading straight for our fruit trees; every year they eat all the leaves and buds off of them. I thought well there they go…no fruit again this year.
When all of a sudden one of our peacocks flew down from were he was perched and started full peacock run at the deer!! I was shocked! Dumbfounded! Speechless! What was this peacock doing? The deer and the peacock were just out of sight so I could not see the altercation, but the three retreating deer said it all! Back down the trail they went, one mother deer with two babies. The peacock strutted back to where he was perched.
Guess who gets fruit this year! Guess who got a treat?
That will do Peacock.. that will do.
