My pastor shared a wonderful story this weekend of a love so strong of a 5 year old boy that most adults would have to think twice about. This story will bring tears to your eyes but I wanted to share it.
He told us of twins that were born with a rare blood disorder, the first 5 years of their life were ups and downs battling this condition. At 5 years old the little boy’s blood cured itself. The antibodies (or whatever it was called) were working properly now and fighting off his condition. He was cured.
His twin sister was not so lucky. The doctors wanted to try a blood transfusion to see if it would help the sister. They asked the little boy would you be willing to give your blood to try and save your sister. He hesitated at first and then said Okay.
They explained that it would take a little while for the transfusion. While the boy was hooked up to his IV he watched the blood coming through the tubes. He then looked at his parents and said “So when will I die?” The sweet little boy thought he was giving ALL of his blood to his sister to save her life and in return he would die.
How amazing is that? At 5 years old he was willing to give up his life for his sister! I don’t think any love can compare to the love from a child. It is so unconditional, pure, and innocent. If only we could all be like that little boy!
