~This post is made in partnership with Shop Car and Driver. Opinions and stories are my own.~
If you happen to have an Auto Enthusiast in your life, then you probably know the name of Car and Driver. After 60 years in publication, it has garnered many loyal fans from around the world and a large majority of those are Father’s who pass this love on to their sons. In an odd twist of events, it was my son who had gotten my husband into autos. As Tot has been an avid collector of miniature die-casts, my husband became an expert by default and they both grew to love these things together.
For Father’s Day I wanted to share a shop I had just recently been introduced to, Shop Car and Driver! I had no idea that the magazine even had a whole separate shop where you could purchase Auto Enthusiast gifts. I knew immediately that it was where Tot would want to go to get his Daddy a present. It had everything from apparel to Limited Edition die-cast collectibles; the absolute perfect haven for car lovers.
He was so excited when the store sent him a few of the Die-Cast Collectibles. I would share them with you, but he’s kinda hiding them from Daddy at the moment! But if those aren’t what your car guy is into, there are many other items you might find in the shop that are great for your best Dad!
- Car & Driver Stripe Leather Card- the perfect slim wallet for your on-the-go essentials.
- The Chronograph Watch with the Car and Driver graphic adorning the watch face.
- The Heated Travel Mug- perfect for anyone on the go.
- His photo on the cover of Car and Driver – FRAMED PRINT
- The Car Nerd Trucker Hat.
Shopping the store reminded me a lot of my own father. He was always into old muscle cars and throughout his life he had owned two slick Firebirds and a white Chevelle with nitrous. Imagine driving with the t-tops down cross country in a blazing red hot Firebird or imagining what it would be like to hit that nitrous button through the flat Midwestern highways, that was my pre-teen life every summer in the mid 1980s. He knew more about those old cars than I ever knew about myself. In many ways, seeing the love my youngest has in sharing his collection with his Dad is a lot like how my Father was in teaching us about his old cars. The love of craftsmanship is ageless and the bonds that are created, infinite.
One way you could make it really special is to pair it with the magazine subscription. If you don’t want to be tardy for your Father’s Day Gift, head out to the store and grab this month’s off the shelf and then leave him a cute card saying next month he’d be on the cover. You can get a Framed Print with his photo on the cover of Car and Driver shipped out to him. I bet he’d never believe it!!
You could also get him a signed special edition book of his favorite model. These are gifts that can be passed down throughout the generations, something special for a father and his son or a way for your child to bond with his best Papa.
