~I received a sample from the Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasm Collection for review. Opinions are my own.~
I am a wee bit obsessed with cosmetics and find it my calm everyday routine. If left without a sense of urgency during the day, I could spend an hour easily filling in definition. There is something charming about the transformation of how I see myself in my minds eye becoming on the mirror. There is an art to it; even when you are trying to make yourself look as “natural” as possible. Needless to say, I like trying out new things and that’s how I stumbled into trying liquid lipstick.
I’m not very big on the shiny shimmering styles. I prefer natural matte and tend to stay away from glosses. However, I noticed that Trust Fund Beauty’s New Lipgasm Collection had liquid sticks that were moisturizing matte and decided to sample it. I was sent a shade that is way outside of my normal shades. Most of my lip colors are natural to rouge and Quick Wit was as described, “A vampy purple shade”.
I wouldn’t have purchased this specific shade myself. I would have chosen Cool Story Bro, Boy Trapped or K, Bye.
However, I wanted to see how well the liquid lipstick lasted, if it was truly matte and also if it dried out my lips.
Applying it took a bit of practice! Liquid lipstick can be a little messy if you haven’t worked with them before; especially if you are trying a dark shade out. After a few tries I got the hang of it. The application/feel of the lipstick is very smooth. It glides on effortlessly, but I would suggest that if you are new to liquid shades then make sure you have q-tips and a concealer sponge handy.
At first, the color seemed way too striking on my face, but then I blotted and you know what? It wasn’t so bad!
It was still a teeny bit darker than I would have liked, but I could see myself wearing it if I was dressing up to go out. If you aren’t as pale as I am, it may be a great everyday color for you! Or you know…. you could just blot excessively like I did to take it down a shade…
The lipstick itself was a perfect matte. It wasn’t cakey or dry and felt very natural. I loved the feel of the lipstick and it survived the day, even after excessive amounts of coffee drinking! This was all before I toned the color down of course. I highly recommend it as a great liquid matte lipstick.
