When I was little and had to scrub my Grandmother’s floors, I would pretend I was Cinderella and at any moment my Prince was going to burst through the doors and save me from the awful mess of chores. That unfortunately never happened, but it got me through my day. I’m sure every little girl, at one point or another, imagined themselves to be her. Inside of our hearts there was always the one waiting on Happily Ever After and the Prince who would find us with the magic glass slipper. It is one of the dearest and most loved fairytales that changed the way we imagine things for all time.
Although the concept of Cinderella was actually first in mythos, dating back to the 1st Century; our Cinderella first appeared in 1697 and then in 1950 Disney adapted it to the most renowned film animation in all the world. It has not only been the definitive definition of timeless love, or the analogy of what it means to succeed from harsh circumstances, but also of great transformation.
This year, Disney has given the greatest pleasure of creating The Glass Slipper to French Designer Christian Louboutin. Considered one of the most visionary and important shoemakers of all time, his red soles and innovative design have gained him a loyal following in over 54 countries worldwide.
“Isn’t it everyone’s dream, to once in your life part of a fairy tale? Walt Disney Studios gave me a wonderful opportunity to live this magical moment. I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as well as the dream world.” – Christian Louboutin
Details on the collaboration will be released in early July. You can follow along and stayed informed on this beautiful Cinderella tale on Cinderella’s Facebook Page. I personally cannot wait to see the Glass Slipper come to life and be reinvented through the eyes of such an amazing designer.
