This past week my brother went into the hospital for surgery on his skull for hopefully the last time. He’s been battling a brain tumor and multiple infections since he was a toddler; last month he graduated from high-school. Since this journey had begun so many years ago, he has been going to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in St. Louis. He is only 1 child (now grown) of the 1 in 10 kids that are treated by their hospitals each year and it is wholeheartedly because of him that I want to share with everyone how they can offer their support for kids like him.
This month Walmart and Pampers are donating $200,000 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and you can help be a part of that. By purchasing products for your child, you can put your donations towards miracles for other children. It’s really simple!
PediaSure: PediaSure will donate 15 cents per purchase on any PediaSure product (PediaSure ready-to-drink, PediaSure powder & PediaSure Sidekicks ready-to-drink) sold at Walmart up to a maximum donation of $70,000 for purchases made from May 4, 2015 – June 4, 2015
Johnson & Johnson : J&J will donate $1 per purchase of any Johnson’s Baby, Aveeno Baby, Desitin items along with Infant Tylenol 551981239 and Infant Motrin 551981238, up to a maximum of $200,000 for purchases made from May 4, 2015 – June 4, 2015.
P&G: Procter & Gamble will donate $200,000 in June 2015.
Your support helps to provide 32 million patient visits for 10 million kids each year! Every day these member hospitals treat over 16,000 kids in emergency rooms; every hour, surgery for almost 100 children. Your support means more to those families than you can imagine.
After enduring three months of chemotherapy, Starla suffered a seizure that led to cardiac arrest — with heart function and the odds of survival dropping to a dismal 6 percent. Her heart was being put to the test while fighting acute myeloid leukemia, a rare blood cell cancer.
Starla’s family relied on prayer during those long winter nights where she remained in a medically induced coma. They found particular support from AJ McCarron, quarterback for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. Armed with a Team Starla bracelet, AJ led the Tide to win the 14th National Championship Game.
After a month in the pediatric intensive care unit and a slow-but-sure recovery, Starla was strong enough to resume a fourth round of chemo. Thanks to the equal parts swift and steady treatment at her hospital, active and fun-loving Starla is currently in remission with normal heart function.
CMN Hospital funds purchased child life supplies that Starla enjoyed during her hospital stay.
You don’t have to be a new parent to purchase products for babies and children either. Consider purchasing them for their donations towards CMN Hospitals and then donate those products to a local Food Shelter or church. It is about helping to provide others with what is necessary to help their children live and thrive and you don’t need to be a parent to have a good heart.
You can find more information about how you can help by visiting Walmart’s Children’s Miracle Network page and watching the stories of those who CMN has helped. Many thanks to the brands and so many people out there shopping their products that are providing life saving care.
