Color Your Own Sweethearts Conversation Hearts Box Plus Contest

~I received a case of Sweethearts for the purpose of reviewing. Opinions and stories are my own.~

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching and with it all the tasty candies that go along with it. This year the Sweethearts “Color Your Own” contest continues for your child’s chance at fun prizes. My daughter is sending in a box for each of her classmates for Valentine’s day so that they can each enter the contest too.

NECCO Sweethearts Conversation Hearts have been a childhood staple for nearly 150 years. I remember enjoying these candies every year as a child and I think it is extra fun to share them with my own kids now. This is arts and crafts made simple and fun!
The contest is open to three age groups (5-7, 8-10 and 11-12).  Children color the Sweethearts box, and with the help of their parents, upload an image of the design submission to, where there is a submission page. Make sure to submit your entries by March 1, 2015. That is plenty of time to give these fun boxes as Valentine’s Day treats and still enter the contest.

Grand Prize (awarded to highest voted entry from each of the three age groups)

  • $1000 Savings Bond Certificate
  • Opportunity to have your own personal saying appear on a Sweetheart for the 2015 Valentine’s Day season

Runner Up (awarded to second highest voted entry from each of the three age groups)

  • Giant NECCO goodie bag filled with NECCO candies such as Sweethearts, NECCO Wafers, Mary Janes, Clark Bars, Candy Buttons, and Mighty Malts (valued at $200)
If you are in need of some inspiration here are last year’s grand prize winners.

I really like how Valentine’s Day brings out the fun candy just once a year. I would sit around and read every single phrase off my box of Sweethearts Conversation Hearts as a young girl. Now I use the conversation hearts to help Big Sis learn how to read new words. She thinks it is fun and she gets to eat them as she learns. These color your own boxes make great Valentines since kids can eat the treats and color the box for a chance at prizes. I enjoy making Valentine’s Day extra special for my girls and these fun boxes are an easy way to do just that. Break out the markers and crayons and let the kids be creative.
