Crazy Stupid, Love Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital Download Review

Crazy Stupid Love

At fortysomething, straight-laced Cal Weaver (Carell) is living the dream—good job, nice house, great kids and marriage to his high school sweetheart. But when Cal learns that his wife, Emily (Moore), has cheated on him and wants a divorce, his “perfect” life quickly unravels.

In today’s single world, Cal, who hasn’t dated in decades, stands out as the epitome of un-smooth. Spending his free evenings sulking alone at a local bar, the hapless Cal is taken on as wingman and protégé to handsome lothario Jacob Palmer (Gosling). In an effort to help Cal get over his wife and start living his life, Jacob opens Cal’s eyes to the many options before him: flirty women, manly drinks and a sense of style that can’t be found at Supercuts or The Gap.

Cal and Emily aren’t the only ones looking for love in what might be all the wrong places: Cal’s 13-year-old son, Robbie (Bobo), is in love with his 17-year-old babysitter, Jessica (Tipton), who harbors a major crush of her own… on Cal. And even Jacob’s new-woman-every-night modus operandi is challenged when he tries his best lines on Hannah (Stone), a girl he just can’t seem to get out of his mind—maybe because she’s the first woman he’s ever met who doesn’t think this professional player has any game.

Crazy Stupid, Love is an incredibly amusing, critically acclaimed romantic comedy directed by Glenn Ficara and John Requa (“I Love You Phillip Morris”), and stars Steve Carell (TV’s “The Office,” “Date Night”), Oscar® nominee Ryan Gosling (“Half Nelson”), Oscar® nominee Julianne Moore (“Far From Heaven”), Academy Award® winner Marisa Tomei (“My Cousin Vinnie”), Kevin Bacon (“Frost/Nixon”), Emma Stone (“Easy A”), Jonah Bobo (“Zathura: A Space Adventure”) and Jane Carroll Lynch (“Shutter Island”).

The movie begins with Cal and Emily seemingly having a nice date night dinner when all the sudden it’s blurted out that she wants a divorce. From the onset it starts as a dramatic comedy and then adds in the elements of romance. Their 13 year old son Robbie seems to weave in and out of the movie with his fight for his one true sole mate, his babysitter Jessica, who is 5 years older than him and this incredible persistence inspires his parents who had believed in such things at the beginning of their 25 year marriage.

The couples in the movie are paired fantastically, both relatable and also hilarious. The bro-mance between Cal and Jacob as Jacob tries to help him regain his manhood, is one of my favorite parts of the film. At the end everyone collides in a surprising way that made me laugh so hard I about fell off my couch!

  • Steve and Ryan Walk Into A Bar – Sitting at the bar, Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling candidly discuss their rolls, the movie, love and staring at your co-star’s package
  • The Player Meets His Match – Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone share how they had to maneuver between hilarious love scenes, dating on screen and a budding new bromance with Steve Carell.
  • Deleted Scenes
  • UltraViolet Digital Copy and DVD version of the movie (initial shipment only)
