My husband and I get so caught up in things going on in our lives that we forget to spend time with each other. In the past few months he went from laid off to hired to laid off to hired again; our time was put on hold and then kind of forgotten in the day to day. We’d been talking about watching Ruby Sparks for weeks and never got around to it. Then I was offered to review it for #CouchCritics as a Date Night movie and got excited. It had been far too long since my husband and I had a Date Night movie!
I put it on our calendar for Saturday and if you follow us on Facebook then you know that we changed it to Sunday, but I like this photo because it shows that there isn’t anything wrong with scheduling time with your partner. Sometimes busy lives don’t offer us the spontaneity that we used to have, so days like this become special.
I picked up some fun things for our Date Night. You can read all about it in my Google + Story! I didn’t want to spend all my time cooking since I do that every other day of the week, so I picked up some frozen raviolis, blue cheese crumbles and sour cream for my husbands delicious homemade blue cheese dressing, his favorite chocolate pretzels, popcorn and a Lotto ticket with a Sunday paper for me.
My husband used to always bring me Lotto tickets on our Date Nights. I couldn’t forget to grab one! Plus, I won my money back on that Lotto ticket so we were going to have a great night with Ruby Sparks!
We also started putting up our tree with the kids. We never finished cause my tot started getting too sleepy, so we’re finishing the rest today. It was nice though, watching the lights flicker, the sound of Holiday music and my children’s silliness before bedtime and then being able to spend time with my husband curled up on the couch. I can’t think of a more perfect way to end the night.
Here is a short peek at my review:
Ruby Sparks is about a lonely, novelist on writer’s block who begins to write about a girl that he dreams and unknowingly wills her into existence. It is a unique view on love, merging the concepts of what we imagine with reality. Ultimately an honest story about what happens when dreams come true, which isn’t always what you think it is.
