I have a fascination with butterflies, birds and even bees. Through the spring I often write about the life fluttering about outside my windows. Last year there was a battle at the birdbath, an evening when a little baby bird showed up at my door and on our first spring here there were two mourning doves that flew in and by the end of the spring they had a little family. I thought it was adorable how Bert & Bernice (as I call them) settled into our yard and now they are back with an entire mob of children pecking around outside every day.
From the butterflies that visit to the hummingbirds that whisper in and out of sight, they’re all small parts of what makes our world so alive.
When I heard about DisneyNature’s new movie Wings of Life, I immediately thought of my wedding day. Not to downgrade the life of the planet or anything, it’s just that on that day we released dozens of butterflies to symbolize the transformation of our lives together. It was a grain of sand in the understanding of what these magnificent wings of nature transform across the world. That their actions together, all their tiny actions, ripple the entire existence of life on this planet.
I honestly hope that everyone gets a chance to see Wings of Life and can get an extremely beautiful in depth look at hummingbirds, bees, butterflies and bats and why they are so important to nature and humanity.
Disneynature: Wings of Life (DVD + Blu-ray) releases on 4/16 and you can currently pre-order it on Amazon for $31.93.
I didn’t receive anything for this promotion. I just felt it was important to share.
