As some of you may know, I am a sucker for children’s books. Although I don’t see buying a book instead of a toy necessarily as a problem, I did have a problem with storing the books. Right now, my oldest daughter likes to “play” with her little board books and mainly just point to certain pictures…she is only 18 months. To encourage her to explore her books, I wanted bookshelves that were accessible, safe, cheap, and still look nice.
We followed the awesome tutorial on Frugal Home Designs and it was very easy to follow.
We did put up painter’s tape first on the wall to get an idea how the shelves would look. After much debate, we decided to do 3 shelves on either side of the window. This left the bottom shelf reachable for my daughter and still left enough room underneath for storage.
I just love how they turned out and I envision that top shelves will be a great place to display future art projects!
