I have been on my husband for several years now, “I want a NEW kitchen!” I just can’t stand the ugly old wood panel that we have up on 2 of the main walls in our kitchen. Our kitchen isn’t very big to begin with, it’s not small but it looks so small because of the dark wood panel that surrounds the room.
I love being a kitchen dweller, I was pretty much raised to be a kitchen dweller! Everything happens in the kitchen, family meals, family conversations, having guests over and playing card games….where at again, yes the kitchen!
This year my incredibly lovely husband has made my wish come true! We are going to give our kitchen a face-lift and the first thing to go is that wood panel….HURRAY!! Over the last few weeks my husband has been taking that panel down and to his worst nightmare, behind it was mountains of glue!!! Man he worked so hard to get that glue off and to salvage the drywall. God knows we don’t have the money to buy all new dry wall, we are on a small budget just like many of you who set your remodeling budget as well.
Once my husband had all of that glue off and the walls mudded and sanded, it was smooth sailing from there on out! The longest time spent was that darn glue. I decided to have the Wainscoting Painted Ultra White and my husband picked out a wonderful soft light green for the walls called Water Sprout. We bought all of our paint at Home Depot and I am a big fan of Behr with primer, especially for the kitchen has moisture and temperature changes while cooking. Easy to wipe down and it won’t rub off the paint.
I am so completely happy with my new walls and am ready for the next kitchen home improvement phase, The Floor. I will be posting before and after pictures for you then too, so stay tuned to inRandom’s DIY Home Improvements. We have to send out tons of love and thanks to our hard-working husbands who are doing all of this work for us.
