During my DIY Kitchen Home Improvements Phase 1 you watched as my husband replaced our awful ugly wood panel and put up Wainscoting. We painted our walls a wonderful Water Sprout color from BEHR primer paints and also painted the trim and Wainscoting in Ultra White giving our kitchen a nice open feel with the light colors.
In Phase 2 my husband replaced our Black and White checkered floor (vinyl tiles) with a wonderful Sahara Beige Ceramic Tile and a Sahara Tan Grout. I am so happy with this new and improved floor, I wish that we would have done it years ago!
It still needs to be sealed and cleaned but I wanted to get a good picture of it for you before my husband starts working on the cabinets and they are strung out all over the place.
We got all of our supplies at our local Home Depot and it really cuts costs when you can borrow or already own tools that you need to do a job like this. A tile saw for one! Those are expensive and thank goodness we did not have to purchase one, yes a good investment if you are thinking of letting your husband get one 🙂
I opted for the cheapest ceramic tile Home Depot had in stock, for one I wanted the Wainscoting and that can get a little pricey depending on your room size, and I didn’t particularly see the need in spending tons of money on a ceramic tile that looked just as good as this one! So we paid 57 cents a square foot really cutting costs down and still looking very nice and suitable for my new kitchen!
I am still very excited and glad that my husband is very motivated in finishing our kitchen in a timely manner! We have 4 kids and currently no kitchen table and for a few days I had no stove or oven to cook in either, and let me tell ya, that was a bummer but we survived.
Once again I want to Thank My Wonderful Husband for working a full-time job and coming home to put in another full-time job. You are truly wonderful and man I love my new kitchen. It all makes this so worth it, the mess, the dis-order, the clutter, and the limited cooking.
I can’t wait to share Phase 3 (Painted Cabinets) with you in our DIY Kitchen Home Improvements. So Stay Tuned 🙂
