Our Fireplace Room has a love-seat, a chair and a lounge seat all in lime microfiber; our living-room has a matching sectional. We were so excited to have beautiful, like-new furniture in our new home back in December. My husband found each set separately on Craigslist and somehow they all matched! It was perfect. I absolutely love them…
… until they get dirty.
Above our Fireplace Room is three 7ft long skylights and you can see one of the three wall windows in the background of the above photo; so the room is filled completely with natural sunlight. This doesn’t bode well when the furniture gets dirty, which is often. Everything collects on these things! Food, dirty feet and hand prints, water, juice, things I don’t even want to think about… all create marks on our beautiful furniture.
I searched everywhere for a long time on how to clean microfiber and it seemed like a really daunting task. First of all, water doesn’t do well because it leaves watermarks. After you use water you are supposed to use rubbing alcohol to remove the watermarks and then dilute with water/alcohol mix to dilute the smell of the alcohol. You kind of go around in circles and I tried this for a long time without any success. All it did was create MORE watermarks and we were very, very close to having to get new furniture even though we couldn’t afford it. That was until one day I came across something magical…
… something amazing…
I came across a baby wipe.
My son had accidentally used a marker on the lounge seat and so thinking quickly (before it could get worse) I grabbed one of his baby wipes and what do you know…. it worked. I thought to myself, “Maybe, just maybe, it could work on the rest of the spots!” So nervously I tried it and it miraculously cleaned my microfiber furniture!
Just in case you don’t believe me, I took pictures!

Isn’t that amazing! I’ve used various baby wipes and I’m not an expert so I really have no idea what is in wipes, but I do know this… they clean microfiber just as well as they clean little behinds.
Now I don’t have to get new furniture and I am extremely happy. I figured I would let the world know because I searched forever to find ways to clean this stuff and never found a single working solution, until now. I’m happy to say that I’ve been using these for months without any damage to my furniture, without any icky alcohol smell or watermarks.
It’s the perfect cleaning tool for Moms!
