There is nothing more beautiful than watching a child grow through their imagination. The moment when they go from a quizzical expression of puzzling out a problem, to the reaction of joy when they realize they have figured out the solution. Although there are toys that are just your typical brand in my home, we have a wide selection of toys for learning. Education needn’t only be in a school setting, children pick up things no matter where they are. The basic element of early education is to help children reach their developmental goals while having fun and expanding their imagination.
Imagine Toys is guided by the mission to provide quality toys that encourage children to use their imaginations. They specifically select unique toys and accessories that are different from your average mass-market producers. Each toy brought in is tested for appropriate age and educational play value, by parents like us.
I was given the opportunity to review one of the Imagine Toys, the Wonderworld Flower Stacker. This brightly colored toy not only is a fun stacker, but it builds fine motor skills by having your child get a lot of practice fitting the pieces together. A few other things my son and I learned with the Flower Stacker was:
- Counting up to Five
- Categories of Colors
- Balance & Distribution
|Categorizing by Colors.|
|Separating by numbers / color. 1 Dark Green, 2 Light Green, 3 Yellow, 4 Orange and 5 Red.|
Teaching a child balance is an essential part of stacking. It also helps them to learn cause and effect. If they stack too high the pieces obviously fall down. The neat thing about the Flower Stacker is that they can learn to balance the other side out and how many pieces each side can hold before it falls. These are obviously educational lessons for older children (the Flower Stacker is for 18mo+) but that just shows how well it can evolve as your child grows.
The pieces are made from environmentally friendly rubber wood & non-toxic water-based paints. It comes with 15 blocks and 1 wood base and everything fits back into its original box so it can be put away easily!
We really enjoy the Wonderworld Flower Stacker, for fun and for educational value. My son is currently working on areas of fine motor in his Occupational Therapy, so this helps bridge the gab between early educational at school and home! It’s also interesting to me to watch him really think about what he’s doing and where he is placing things next. Although my tot has known his colors and numbers for a few years now, stacking with more curious shaped objects as well as learning sequence and balance is something entirely new. Sometimes challenges are a lot of fun!
You can see a variety of similar toys on Imagine Toys, as well as view differing toys for your child’s specific age group (2 and under – up to 11+), category and interest. There are also a lot of items on Sale!
Purchase: The Wonderworld Flower Stacker can be purchased for $27.95.
