All day long, you’ll have good luck. Well, I don’t know if that is true, but I’ll pick them up anyways! I am somewhat superstitious though. They say if it’s heads it’s good luck, tails is bad luck. However, this doesn’t stop me, I just want money!
I was walking with my son the other day and we found a penny. He gets just as excited as me when we find money. We picked it up and I got to thinking, where may this penny have been before, who had this penny?
Let me elaborate. Over the winter, I was putting laundry away in the bedroom. My son, 3 at the time, came in with two pennies. He told me to watch as he was going to balance them on his lip. He tilted his head back, set it on his top lip, and as I was saying “Don’t do that, you might choke” He opens his mouth and what do you know, he is choking on the penny. Panic sets in because he is not breathing! And while this only lasted probably 20 seconds it seemed like forever! I yelled for my husband and began pounding on my son’s back. Thankfully it dislodged, and down it went! I told my husband he swallowed it, which freaked out my son. He started yelling “Get it out!” We finally had to pretend it came out. We told him to cough and grabbed another penny and dropped it when he wasn’t looking.
This is where it gets interesting. I wasn’t sure what to do now, so I made the mistake of searching the Internet. Most things said it would pass on its own. However, other things said, it may lodge in his intestines, the stomach acids will make the copper start coming off in his stomach, so many things! Bottom line, everything said, you have to make sure it comes out! My son is a pretty regular pooper, so the next day, he poops, I’m relieved, get out my gloves, and my son was going thru a phase at the time, he was proud of his poop and always wanted to save it to show daddy! Boys! Well I had a job to do so put on my gloves and started digging. He freaked out “What are you doing?! You’re breaking it!” Unfortunately for me, no penny.
The next day I was more discreet about it. Waiting til he had gone in the other room. He told me not to break it this time! No penny tho! Finally on day 3, out came the penny! I told my friends about this incident. Many had been thru this before on their own. One said she kept it and cleaned it and put it in his baby book. Strange. Another said she cleaned it and spent it! Eeeww!! I simply flushed it! I might be cheap and want my pennies, but not that bad!
So next time you find a penny, just think, where may this penny have been….?
