I’ve been in love with fondue for years and years. The idea that I can take scrumptious bits of bread, cheese, and different meats and dip them into melted steaming gourmet cheeses or luscious fruits into dark decadent chocolate makes me quiver with delight. I am a foodie and heart and fondue is one of the greatest meal and treat concepts ever created.
Years ago I had assumed, as many still do, that fondue was a lavish expense. I came from a very small town and outside of fancy restaurants, it was unheard of and not many people had gourmet cheeses or chocolates to make at home. Decades have went by, the internet has blossomed the shopping markets and grocery stores now include on their shelves fondue you can take home.
Emmi Fondue, is a wonderful treat that you can purchase online or at various locations (like the World Market). A gift of decadence that you can make in your own home and you don’t even have to have a fondue pot! No mess of figuring out what you have to mix with the cheese or chocolates to ensure its creamy texture, you just warm it up and it is ready in minutes.
Many of my family members hadn’t ever tried fondue. As I stated earlier, there are many people that still believe it is an expense like caviar. So during the holidays I decided to treat my family to Emmi’s Swiss Chocolate Fondue. I actually had a fondue pot that my husband and I had gotten as a wedding gift years ago and so I brought it along. However, you can just place the chocolate pieces in a bowl and heat it up in the microwave! No need to get fancy.
I sliced up Strawberries, Bananas and Pineapple and added Marshmallows for the kids. I left the room momentarily to grab my other camera and check on my son and never made it back in the kitchen!
A line had formed around the fondue pot. Everyone wanted to dip the fruit pieces into the Emmi’s Swiss Chocolate, it was a huge hit! I eventually made it over to get myself a few pieces but the pot was never left alone. The fruit and marshmallows actually ran out before the chocolate ever did! Even though it doesn’t look like much in the pot, heated up it only takes so much to coat little bites.
Some years ago I actually had a Fondue Football Party for Superbowl! I had this unique fondue pot that had a plate that went underneath for the food and I had placed little bits of steak, chicken, shrimp and various breads underneath. My son, who doesn’t remember much of his very early childhood, remembers that fondue party with a great fondness. It was his first experience with fondue and he loved dipping all the different pieces into the cheese mixes. I don’t know any child that doesn’t love ‘playing’ with their food as it seems to them. Skewering little bites and dipping them into chocolate and cheese is probably one of the funniest things you can do with your child for a snack!
What you can do to make it really fun for an upcoming Superbowl Party is to cut the pieces of fruit, veggies and/or bread bites into footballs!
From special moments, to family fun and parties, fondue is something special to share. It’s a New Year and there are so many ways to entertain family nights and coming holidays (Valentines!) with Emmi’s various delicious fondue cheeses and Swiss Chocolate. Check out the store online and see what appeals to you! Check out the ideas for Cheese Fondue or Chocolate Parties or gifts for the coming holiday of Love.
We’re going to be including Emmi’s Fondue into our Superbowl Party this year by request of my two boys. I hope this time I can get some for myself!
