~I received FURminators for review. Opinions and stories are my own.~
I have two fur babies that my husband and I got years before we even thought of having children. They have been a part of our family since the beginning and with each daughter we brought home our pets openly welcomed them by allowing them to pet, rub, poke, prod, pull, carry and more without hurting the girls. They were also great practice for having kids! As much as I love our cat and dog they both shed like crazy! I vacuum the house at least once a week and the entire vacuum drum is always full and a majority of it is pet hair. Whenever someone is going to come over to my house I wait and vacuum right before they are scheduled to arrive because I don’t want them to see pet hair all over the house and furniture! I have tried pet brushes in the past and they were mediocre at best. Next up for us was the FURminator. Sure I was a little skeptical…who wouldn’t be? I am writing this review to tell you that EVERY SINGLE dog and cat owner should buy one of these amazing pet tools!
Here is a random corner of my house with some pet fur. A little gross I know. I only vacuumed a few days prior and this is what my whole house looked like after only a few days!
My FURminators arrived just in time as I was hosting another get-together at our house for some friends. I received a short hair, large dog one and a large cat, long hair brush. You pick out the one that best fits your animal.
The stainless steel deShedding edge reaches deep beneath your animal’s topcoat to gently remove undercoat and loose hair. Look closely and you can see the “teeth” of the brush.
This is my Princess Peach. She is large and her hair is extremely short. She also sleeps in bed with us every single night which means our bed linens always have hair on them. She is not the smartest pup but she is extremely loving.
She does not mind being brushed at all but I don’t think it is on her list of favorite things to do. Here is a picture of the brush after only 20 seconds of brushing. I had to stop because the brush was already full.
My cat absolutely loves being brushed with the FURminator. He immediately flops on his side and starts purring because he thinks he is getting a massage! Here is a picture of the cat brush after only 20 seconds of brushing.
Here is a picture of the fur removed from those 2 pictures above. It went straight into my garbage can instead of on my floor and furniture.
I did not think to take a picture of all the fur removed from my animals after a good 5 minutes of brushing but let me tell you it was a lot and it was kind of gross to think that is what is all over my house when they shed it! I know that these brushes are a little pricey but I feel they are worth every penny! My pets were not harmed while using these deShedding tools and I love that I am keeping all that fur off my floors and my bedspread!
FURminator tools also help prevent hairballs while reducing shedding up to 90%. Just use it at home a few minutes twice a week on dogs or cats to help keep shedding under control. This would make a great gift for anyone you know with a pet. It is a practical gift and I, for one, love practical gifts! Or better yet get this for yourself and use it on your pets to keep your home cleaner for Holiday parties! I will definitely be using mine before people come over to visit. They also sell other grooming tools as well as shampoos and I even noticed they sell a FURminator deShedding tool for you to use on horses.
My floors do seem to have less fur on them since I have started brushing them with these tools and I could not be more thrilled with the results!
Purchase: You can purchase the Large Dog, Short Hair deShedding tool for $62.99 and the Large Cat, Long Hair Deshedding tool for $49.99. Their products are sold at pet specialty stores, veterinarian clinics, groomers, PetSmart, Petco and their online store. There are some fakes out there so make sure you are buying from an authorized dealer.
