The flowers are in bloom, the trees bursting fourth leaves and fruit flowers; grass and weeds sprouting between the seasons colorful bounty… Spring is in the air! And so are all the spores, pollens and airborne allergens. What’s worse is that the pollen from these blooming plants and trees can travel for miles and miles leaving millions of people feeling miserable. Spring is better known as the season for sneezing, itchy eyes and sniffles.
Allergic Rhinitis, better known as Hay Fever, is one of the most common forms of spring allergens as it is the reaction between the courtship of grasses, trees and weeds. It alone attacks over 35 million Americans each year! If you find yourself sniffling and sneezing, more than likely it’s because you’re carrying a Hay Fever allergy. Hay Fever and Sniffles go hand in hand.
Here to welcome in the new season on inRandom and the new spring releases at GIANTmicrobes are the GIANTmicrobes themselves! GIANTmicrobes are plushies that look just like microbes but a million times their size! They’re cute, cuddly, educational versions of the awful things lurking outside of our visual capabilities! GIANTmicrobes are interesting things. They not only make you want to cuddle with your maladies, but each one comes with a card that teaches you about their biology and shows an actual picture of what they look like in their natural form. It is one of the neatest, and utterly cool concepts for a toy. My son Cody absolutely LOVES them and is quite determined to collect them all. It is simply awesome to me as a parent how they inspire him to seek out more information on microbiology and how these small little bugs and microscopic creatures affect the world around him. Who would have guessed that getting a Tick as an early Easter gift would be the greatest thing in the world?
Ticks are something we, as Mid-westerners, have to deal with on more than one occasion. They are everywhere. As a child I had gotten used to coming inside, taking off my shoes and then proceeding to check every possible inch of myself for Ticks if I had been playing in tall grasses or in the woods. It is a common irritating pesk that just happens to like catching rides on jeans and sneakers and often times your pets. Make sure you regularly check your outside pets when they come in, you never know what they may have brought inside with them!
Sniffles is my favorite though. He is so cute and soft! Every time you push his nose he lets out a great big sneeze. My 2 year old Judah loves to get him going and giggles himself silly. He walks around with him hand in hand and although it would have never occurred to me to think my toddler getting Sniffles was adorable, I couldn’t help it! GIANTmicrobes has put an entirely new perspective on things in my household. The next time I put on insect repellent all I am going to be able to see is this Mosquito.
Never would I have ever thought to say to my readers, “How would you like to win a virus! A malady! What about a common House Fly!” Yet here I am offering you a chance to win just that! GIANTmicrobes would wants to give one of you the chance to win one of these adorable educational plushies! Who knew that with all the allergies on this page you could possibly be taking home a Sore Throat!
