Susan O’Brien, Founder of Hail Merry Snacks. Susan O’Brien, Native Houstonian and UT Austin design graduate started Hail Merry Snacks in 2006 after traveling to Maui where she fell in love with the raw food lifestyle. For Ms. O’Brien “Going Raw”, an evolution of Vegan, seemed a natural progression from her decade-long yoga practice. Her journey would take her to California where she trained with famed raw food chef, Juliano. Back home in Dallas, her cabana would be transformed into a test kitchen for raw snacks, which were then sold into a local natural foods market. Hail Merry quickly gained a devout following of vegan, gluten-free and raw enthusiasts who share a love for fresh, great tasting, pure ingredients which heal the body.
I have been able to review the most delicate, delightful, delicious, moist, melt in your mouth guilt free treat- The Hail Merry Chocolate and Blonde Macaroons. I love to share so when these little pieces of heaven came in I had to call my sister (in-law) Fawn for a snack party! Yummy! Fawn is my Vegan go to girl where I’m just starting to learn about the art of label reading and she is an expert. Fawn and I were impressed with the ingredients of the Chocolate and Blonde Macaroons which are so simple that even the inexperienced label reader like me knew how healthy they were. Both are hand made using organic expeller pressed coconut oil which has many benefits, some of them are:
- METABOLISM: Coconut oil increases the metabolism by stimulating the thyroid
- ENERGIZING: Coconut oil contains Medium Chain Fats (as opposed to long chains found in animal fat), which provide fuel for the body and are not stored as fat or cholesterol.
- HEART HEALTHY: Coconut oil comes from a plant, has no cholesterol and helps reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol. It was wrongfully tainted as an artery clogging fat back in the 80’s because it contains saturated fat but not all saturated fats are bad nor have they been directly linked to heart disease.
- IMMUNE BOOSTING: Cold pressed coconut oil contains large amounts of Lauric Acid, known for its anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties which protect against infections like the flu and strengthen our immune system.
Hail Merry snacks are sweetened with maple syrup which they use for its flavor profile. It also contains more vitamins and minerals than any other sugar source available: including magnesium, zinc, and potassium. The other sweetener they use is 100% raw blue agave’ known to be low glycemic and suitable for diabetics.
Hail Merry can be found at Whole Foods locations as well as DFW Central Markets and other select health conscious retailers. Check out their Hail Merry for a full list of guilt free products!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
