Heat Things Up with the Honeywell ThermaWave EnergySmart™ Heater! Review

The harsh part of winter has decided to come a little late to the Midwest. The last few days have been freezing, which is an odd change from just a few weeks ago when it topped the charts as the warmest it’s been since the 1990s. Most of our house is heated by radiant heat flooring, so we enjoy a very even warmth that doesn’t flux like most homes. However, there is one room in our house that was built on later as a garage to family room idea that doesn’t have the radiant heat. It has a wall gas heater to warm the room and it uses a lot of gas to warm it from the area it’s in so our bills haven’t been pretty.

We tried an electric heater that we borrowed from my Mother, but the problem was that we couldn’t keep it on. It is one of those long heaters that get really hot and Judah always wanted to mess with it. Plus we were worried that he might accidentally pee on it (he’s potty training!) and that’s not exactly safe. So we’d have it on for part of the day and then we’d have to put it away. This didn’t help. Then one thing led to another and I was given a Honeywell HZ-850 EnergySmart ThermaWave Ceramic Heater to review and it changed everything.

Honeywell ThermaWave Ceramic Heater

The Honeywell HZ-850 EnergySmrt™ ThermaWave Ceramic Heater uses ThermaWave technology to send a quiet wave of warm air around the room, spreading the heat more evenly than traditional fans. It also features Smart™ technology, which regulates electricity flow based on temperature for precise temperature control and energy savings.

What is incredible about the Honeywell ThermaWave EnergySmart Heater is that if used properly it can save you up to 35% off your energy bills in comparison to other heaters. They use less electricity than radiant heaters, plus it stays at a much cooler temperature as it is ceramic, thus making them safe to be around pets and small children! Other features include:

  • Digital LED lights show current room temperature and desired temperature
  • Energy usage indicator shows amount of energy used
  • High & Low fan speeds
  • Programmable thermostat
  • Carry handle
  • Tip-Over Protection shuts heater off if tipped
  • Overheat Protection Device
  • Extra-Wide Sturdy Base
  • Room Size: 120 Square Foot Room
  • Fast even ceramic technology with fan-forced heating for personal and whole room comfort.
  • A unique ergonomic design and quiet fan which allows a wave of warmed air to circulate your room.
Honeywell Thermawave Heater
This is our Family/Play room that doesn’t have the radiant floor heat. You can see the Honeywell ThermaWave EnergySmart Heater there by the lounge chair, it’s rather inconspicuous. This seemingly small heater heats up this whole room! The heater is equipped with an energy savings thermostat that gives you the right amount of heat by regulating the wattage consumption based on your desired temperature, making the product energy efficient and helping to save up to 35% on energy bills. You can calculate how much you’d save on heating costs this winter using the Honeywell Heat Savings Calculator.
Honeywell ThermaWave Energysmart Heater

I’m not sure what I would ever do without this heater now. It’s saved us money on our gas bill (haven’t gotten electric yet to see), it blends in well with the room and isn’t as large as other heaters and it is SAFE. My tot can touch it without burning himself, he can tip it over and it will automatically shut off and if it gets too hot it will turn itself off. Simply put, it’s amazing and I don’t have to worry about it being on during the day in the playroom. This heater would be a must have if you are looking for a heater to help lower heating costs or one that is designed for safety with children in mind.

Connect: You can connect with Honeywell on their Facebook Page.

Purchase: You can purchase the Honeywell ThermaWave EnergySmart Heater at most major retailers for MSRP: $69.99.

Nearly everyone understands the need for a fire and smoke alarm, but a gas detector is important for home safety too. Carbon monoxide – CO2 – is an odorless gas that can cause sudden illness and death. Only a gas detection device can alert you to the presence of carbon monoxide. Honeywell carbon monoxide alarms install easily and are an affordable safety solution for protecting your family.
