July isn’t only the month that hosts the Fourth of July, it is also known for being the National Hot Dog Month. Actually, a record of over 7 Billion hot dogs are consumed between Memorial Day and Labor Day each year according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council. That means over 818 hot dogs are consumed every single second and that’s not just from the contestants of the National Hot Dog Competition. We just really love hot dogs!
Hot dogs are typically wrapped in their classic buns, but there are some of us (and chances are you know someone) that are Gluten Free and can’t have the general supermarket buns; not including the other many great summer goodies. The great thing is, there is a company that is entirely Gluten Free! All of their products from pizza, granola to cookies are free of gluten and oh so insanely good and one of those products are hot dog buns!
We can’t leave our Gluten Free families, friends and neighbors out of the July hot dog madness! These Classic Hot Dog Buns are thick, soft and actually I thought they were better than regular hot dog buns. They’re not just smooshed pieces of bread filled with air, they’re actually full delicious buns of bread that kind of reminded me of a smaller version of hoagie. They’d actually hold up better for those saucy Chicago Style hot dogs or if you like to put chili on your dogs, even if you aren’t gluten free, these buns are going to hold it without turning into a puddle of mush!
If you are like the rest of us though, you generally BBQ hot dogs alongside hamburgers in the summer. Don’t worry, they also have Hamburger Buns! They have Classic Hamburger Buns and even Whole Grain Hamburger Buns!
These are the same thick softness like the hot dog buns. They’re actually more like a bakery or gourmet style hamburger bun so they’re also great for sandwiches; especially if you like a lot of sauces!
I have to say though, when we received the box of Udi’s Gluten Free Foods to try, everyone hoarded around the sweets that were sent. The Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Snickerdoodle Cookies and the Dark Chocolate Brownie Bites were treated with some fascination. I wasn’t really sure what they would taste like, but I had the biggest surprise when biting into one of the cookies. They tasted more homemade and were insanely delicious; mouth melting heavenly goodness. They were better than anything I’d ever bought at a store. It was so hard holding myself back from just sneaking off with the little container of cookies.
I was, am and will continue to be pleasantly surprised by Udi’s. It’s really wonderful because I have family members that are gluten free and now it’s not so bad when inviting them over for dinner, especially when you have dessert and all the little kids get to have treats and there is always one of them who can’t have any. It kind of makes it special to have something to share with them! I know my nephew would be extremely appreciative to know that he wouldn’t be left out.
So for this July, our National Hot Dog Month, make sure you don’t leave anyone out. Udi’s is the leader in Gluten Free Bread and Bakery Products and has such a wonderful expanse of products for gluten free families. You can find Udi’s at most Supermarkets, so it shouldn’t be hard to pick up while out shopping for your BBQ and Potluck parties!
And before you go picking up all those Udi’s goodies, make sure you read up on Hot Dog Etiquette; apparently eating Ketchup on your Hot Dog after the age of 18 is just unacceptable. Ha!
