Since last year we’ve been trying to get my toddler to sleep in his twin bed. We purchased this great race-car bed for his birthday last September and he wanted nothing to do with it. He loved to play on it, but there was no way he was going to sleep on that bed. His crib was a convertible crib and so he’s had it since he was born, I suppose he got pretty attached to it – stickers and bite marks and all. But he was just getting way too big for it and the bolts were starting to loosen because he’s 40+ lbs hopping around on it. We just couldn’t figure out how to get him to budge and so we’ve had two beds in his room.
Then… something amazing happened this weekend! I’ve been wanting to redesign his room from Sesame Street to Trucks for awhile and when searching for Easter stuff on Amazon last Thursday I came across these: Construction Trucks Loader Road Signs Wall Stickers.
We spent the afternoon moving Sesame Street Characters and putting them up over his race-car bed. Then… the most miraculous thing happened… when it was time for nap-time he said, “Sleep with the new trucks!” I was so shocked I was sure I heard wrong! But then he climbed up into his race-car bed and slept with his trucks, then he did that night and the following day; so yesterday we removed his old toddler bed. It was a miracle!
So now I am going to get the Transportation Car Firetruck Road Wall Mural Stickers.
They’re going to go where the old bed was, to fill out the other side of the room. I already have planned to do animals on the far end since he has lots of giraffe’s and zoo characters, but this half is devoted to trucks, cars and construction vehicles. I’m so proud of him and so happy he’s finally in his twin bed!
So if you are stuck like me, it’s certainly an idea. Refreshing the room and re-designing a few things. Putting them up behind their new beds apparently works wonders! I can’t wait to get to work on the rest of the room and I was incredibly happy to find those deals on Amazon; for the size of the trucks and the half roads together – it’s a great find!
