My tot gets a huge kick out of Humerus the Funny Bone; he is quite the unique comedian! Humerus comes with his own stage box that has his nervous sidekick, Ulnar. If you haven’t guess yet, yes… he is a nerve!
It’s an incredibly clever idea! Not only does he crack up some corny jokes, but he offers a great lesson for kids. I remember on one specific occasion my tot had actually hit his funny bone (his actual humerus) on the table and he was so distraught. It gives off an awful feeling! Generally I have a tough time because he has difficulties understanding some things and after calming him down I got out the Humerous the Funny Bone box and made up some silly joke about how it was his bone making jokes.
He also likes to take him out of the box and carry him around or set him up in a room. You see, my son is quite the obsessive clapper so to have a toy that turns on by clapping is right up his alley! It kind of works together because he claps when he is happy and Humerus makes him laugh and clap all the harder.
One of the things I am thankful for in regards to how this toy works, is that it doesn’t go off at every little sound. There are a LOT of toys that are powered by sound that will start making a racket the moment a pin drops in the room. You have to be close up and attentive with Humerus the Funny Bone to get him going and that is a parent’s dream.
I will say that his jokes are pretty corny, but good natured. It’s more ‘family funny’ than what you are going to hear out of some kids things these days (which is not always family friendly – eek). My teen was more into the clever idea of the toy rather than the jokes, whereas my tot loved nothing more than hearing Humerus sing his silly songs.
Humerus the Funny Bone is created by the same company that creates GIANTmicrobes! The amusing little plushies of micro organisms. Humerus and his sidekick Ulnar are a pretty amusing pair of comedians and I think they would be a lot of fun for little ones, adults who find humor in the silly things and of course toy collectors! Overall, I think it would make one memorable gift this season!
