My son is both a thumbsucker and an obsessive clapper. You wouldn’t think these two things were all that much trouble, but they actually do a number on his hands. Now that the cold/dry season is upon us, his hands are cracking, his thumb is splitting open and it is just a mess! That’s why we have lots of Bandaids.
Two things have become our friend in the winter, Band-Aids and Neosporin. Band-Aids keep my son from sucking on his thumb long enough for it to heal and also cover up the worst of the cracking on his hands. Neosporin helps with his chapped lips from constant wetness. It also helps Mommy because I have the worst problem of having chapped and cracking lips in the winter!
I must be honest though, I’ve been using the Neosporin Lip Health Overnight Renewal Therapy on my sons hands as well. It’s made with white petrolatum and has been helping out a lot!
It works by restoring your lips and keeping them soft while you sleep. I figured it would do the same for my sons hands, but I also use it on my lips when I sleep and I have noticed the same difference. The Neosporin Lip Health Daily Hydration Therapy has SPF 20 for daytime use. You have to protect yourself against the sun even in the winter!
Band-Aids always have fun styles available! I think my son is getting addicted to having cute Band-Aids. Today I had to have one for my finger and I used a Kermit Band-Aid, he told me “Mommy has YOUR Band-Aid!” He thought I took his. He had Animal on his thumb. So were were Band-Aid partners this morning! If Mommy or Daddy has a Band-Aid, he has to have one too, even if he has to fake a boo boo.

The Muppet Band-Aids in particular have an amazing thing called Magic Vision where you can transform your Muppet Band-Aid via their Smartphone App to entertain little one’s boo-boos away!
Take Note: They may also use it to make fake boo-boos to get to see the Muppets.
That’s why I love all these fun Band-Aids! Plus, they not only have the Muppets, but Pixar Cars and even the beautiful art of Cynthia Rowley!
- Every family need them. They’re not something you think about until all the sudden there’s an accident or your lips hurt so bad you can’t stand it, so having them in the cabinet is a life-saver.
- Kids don’t generally like Band-Aids, but stick a character on them or some nice chic fashion and viola! They become an accessory!
- They would make a great little stocking gift when wrapped nicely. Place them in a cute little treat bag (you can get them for $1) and tie a ribbon around it. Or for kids who absolutely love Band-Aids (like my niece), just toss them in with a red bow!
- Match the character Band-Aids with a little matching toy! Like a Pixar Cars car with the Cars Band-Aids!
Think about all those times you were doing the dishes and your bandage came off. Or when you were giving your child their bath and you find it floating in there, wound exposed to god only knows what germs are in the water. I love these Band-Aids! They have outlasted bath-time, dishes, scrubbing – you name it!
If someone put them in a nice little gift set with some Neosporin Lip Protection, I would think of it as really thoughtful. Just don’t add any dish soap.
You know where you can get Band-Aids and Neosporin! Almost anywhere you shop will have them. This year think outside the box and imagine how sometimes little necessary gifts wind up being the best surprise.
