Journey 2 The Mysterious Island

The follow-up to the 2008 hit! The new journey begins when young adventurer Sean (Josh Hutcherson) receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist—a place of strange life forms, mountains of gold, deadly volcanoes, and more than one astonishing secret. Unable to stop him from going, Sean’s new stepfather (Dwayne Johnson) joins the quest. Together with a helicopter pilot (Luis Guzman) and his beautiful, strong-willed daughter (Vanessa Hudgens), they set out to find the island, rescue its lone inhabitant and escape before seismic shockwaves force the island under the sea and bury its treasures forever.

My son went to see this in theaters a few months ago and loved it. I was kinda jealous as we went to see the first one together and then he went without me! But everything good eventually moves onto Blu-ray and so here it is, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island 3D in a Blu-ray Combo Pack with Ultra Violet Digital Download!

I started thinking about things I would bring if I were venturing off to a mysterious island. Here were the things I came up with:

  • Rope (You never know.)
  • Lighter (Gotta stay warm!)
  • LED Flashlight (They use less battery power.)
  • Zero Water Pitcher (Those things filter everything!)
  • French Press w/Coffee (I can’t battle creatures without coffee.)
  • Rubbing Alcohol (Infections are icky.)
  • Compass (So I know where I’m going.)
  • Knife (Just in case.)
  • How to Survive on a Mysterious Island Book (I’m sure there is one.)
  • My Sister (She’s always saying she needs a vacation.)

Although, I would rather be stuck on a Mysterious Island with Dwayne Johnson, he sure looks like he can handle anything.
Dwayne Johnson
Journey 2: The Mysterious Island releases on June 5th. You can pre-order a copy for $29.96 on Amazon. Which is a really great deal because you are getting the 3D Blu-ray + the Ultra Violet Digital Download, so you can watch it anywhere! I love these 3D movies at home, it’s a different experience watching your children giggle to a 3D movie on the couch than it is in a dark theater. This was my son’s favorite part. He loved that the BIG animals were small and the small animals were BIG.
Dwayne Johnson does a great job entertaining children and teens alike, I love that he does all these kid shows as he has the perfect personality. The cast is complete with Josh Hutcherson, Luis Guzman (who is always goofy and entertaining) and Vanessa Hudgens. The Special Features include:

  • Interactive Adventure guided by Josh Hutcherson: Discover the skills it takes to ride Giant Bees!
  • Introduction with Josh Hutcherson
  • Alexander’s Treehouse
  • Lost City of Atlantis
  • The Giant Flowers
  • The Mushroom Forest
  • The Golden Volcano
  • The Lizard’s Nest
  • The Gigantic Bumble Bee
  • Nemo’s Tomb
  • Nemo’s Cave
  • Nemo’s Submarine
  • Map Payoff
  • Gag Reel
  • Deleted Scenes
Mysterious Island
And if you want to have a little fun with the kids while you are waiting for it to release, you can go play Catch the Gold! You get to move Luis Guzman around trying to catch gold instead of burning boulders from the Volcano. It took me a few tries to get pretty good at it, but of course my teen figured it out in 2 seconds.
So…. what would you bring if you were going to a Mysterious Island?
