Summer is high travel time no matter if you are having mini-staycations or heading out of town. We don’t generally get to leave the state, but we go on a lot of adventures in Missouri and have fun staying at nearby hotels! Kohl’s gave me the opportunity to share with you some of my family’s travel essentials while we’re out on the road. Which ones would you take on your trip?
I always think of Tot first when it comes to traveling. My husband and I can do without a lot of things, but my kids have always got to have some form of entertainment. We don’t have DVD players in our vehicles since we try to curb electronics on family trips; so I picked out a few books that would keep him busy.
Kohl’s has a very large variety of storybooks, activity books, puzzles and more. I picked out an Eric Carle interactive book called Here We Go that has a steering wheel and a horn so he could pretend he was driving too! I also chose a Write-and-Erase Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Look and Find that has multiple activities. There are also mini dry erase books that are great for traveling!
Tot is always saying, “LOOK AT THIS! I SHOW YOU!” so I thought it would be cute if he had his own camera. Since he loves to take photos and then try to drop my camera, I figured he’d need something sturdy. Discovery Kids has a Digital Photo Camera available at Kohl’s designed for kids 3 and up and he LOVES it!
I also picked up a big fluffy Jumping Beans Beach Towel and a Fold ‘n Go chair, although his is Spiderman. These are great for adventures at Splashparks, hotels or heading to parades!
One very important travel essential is Sunglasses. They go hand in hand with sunscreen. No matter how long I’ve been here in the Midwest, my eyes cannot handle the bright sunlight after having lived in the Northwest for so long. I’d be blind! I had chosen a pair of Docker Sunglasses for my husband and a beautiful pair of Dana Buchman Small Cat’s-Eye Sunglasses for me.
I also grabbed a very classy watch for my husband. This Timex Stainless Steel Gunmetal Ion Expansion Watch has great water resistance at 50 meters and back-light. Time is very important while traveling. They’re currently Buy One Get One 1/2 Off so you can get one for yourself!
One of my very, very favorite must have travel items are my Philips PrecisionPerfect Trimmer. This super gadget not only saves me from an embarrassing bikini line if heading to the pool, but also allows me to have perfect eyebrows! It comes with various trimming accessories and a little case with a pair of tweezers that light up and a mini mirror. Genius! I carry it with make-up in my ELLE Cosmetics Train Case for overnight stays.
Speaking of overnight stays, they always require me to wake up too early in the morning; so I’ve fixed the problem…. sort of. I found a National JLR Gear Stainless Steel Smart Travel Mug that has a temperature system so it keeps my coffee just the way I like it!
There’s just one more thing. Years ago my husband had given me a charm bracelet to collect my memories on. Kohl’s sells charm bracelets and single charms! Our 6 Year Anniversary is coming up and I’ve picked out the perfect one to symbolize our years together and to add on my bracelet after our yearly staycation in July. If you love to have a visual reminder of your moments, you can start your own bracelet or collect a charm that represents this beautiful summer.
