~I received the book Little Elliot, Big City for the purpose of reviewing. Opinions and stories are my own.~
I have a slight addiction to books of all kinds. Since my girls are still young my addiction strongly pulls towards children’s books. Not just any book will do either. I like children’s books to be enjoyable to look at and have an engaging story to go along with it. Little Elliot, Big City by Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, is the most recent book to join our bookshelf and that adorable elephant has already found a place in our hearts.
Check out the super cute trailer for the book.
Amid the hustle and bustle of the big city, the big crowds and bigger buildings, Little Elliot leads a quiet life. In spite of the challenges he faces, Elliot finds many wonderful things to enjoy — like cupcakes! And when his problems seem insurmountable, Elliot discovers something even sweeter — a friend.
It is marketed for ages 4-8, preK- 3rd grade and my 5 year old kindergartener here just loves it. Elliot is a small elephant and was feeling small in a big city so children can easily relate to the feeling of being too small. The pictures are fun to look at and they really flow well with the story. Even the tiniest of living things matter and I love teaching things like that to my girls.
Mike Curato’s background is in graphic design and digital illustration. He lives in Brooklyn and much like my family he enjoys cupcakes. I can’t wait to read about Little Elliot’s future adventures when more books follow over the next few years.
