MANNA BREAD® owes its ancient origins to the Essenes that once lived near the shores of the Dead Sea, whose legacy survives through the Dead Sea Scrolls and other Aramaic manuscripts.
“…moisten your wheat, that the angel of water may enter it…and the blessing…will soon make the germ of life to sprout… then crush your grain and make thin wafers as did your forefathers…”—Essene Gospel of Peace
It is interesting how many types of bread are out there in the world, from our typical wheat and white breads to whole grain and 12 grains. I had never heard of Manna Bread before being introduced by our writer Cassie to Manna Organic Bakery and was instantly interested, who wouldn’t be curious about a bread that doesn’t use yeast, flour, salt, oils, sugar, fat or anything artificial. In fact, at first I thought, “How in the world do they even make the bread!” I love baking bread, but I had never heard of bread without at least flour. And upon discussion of what types of bread they were to send, they had informed me that it is a different consistency due to the way it is made; which just upped my curiosity three fold.
I was given these three Manna Breads and also their Bavarian Whole Rye Sourdough Bread.
