Getting ready for the MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron opening tomorrow has been a lot of fun! My youngest is a huge Captain America fan and loves his “frisbee”. We tried to tell him it was a shield, but he wouldn’t have it. As an avid collector of frisbees that tend to fly haphazardly onto roofs and break apart, Captain America had the most indestructible super frisbee in the world. Tot had found his idol and that was that.
Tot was really excited when I told him we were going to go to Walmart and pick up some essential items for an Avengers Day! He got to pick out our outfits and since his dad has to wear whatever he wears, they were both Captain America and I was Black Widow. We also grabbed some fun snacks. Cheez-It’s have MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron with little character pieces, so does Kellogg’s Fruit Snacks; plus Dorito’s and Dr. Pepper!
The best thing was using the Super Heroes Assemble App in the store where we could take snapshots of Kellogg’s, Hasboro, Dr. Pepper or Marvel packaging or displays to collect characters. So far we have Iron Man and the Hulk Buster. The more packages, displays and posters you find the more opportunities you get to do fun things, like take a digital photo opp with HawkEye! The App is available for iTunes and Google Playstore.
You can have a lot of fun turning the Super Heroes Assemble App into a game and see who can gather the most characters and then turn yourself into them! Plus, after today you can go to Walmart and scan any 12 packs of Dr. Peppers Avengers or scan the in-store signage to unlock a digital comic book!
The best part was coming home and having fun with the family. There isn’t really a Black Widow costume, so I found some black leggings and a black shirt. Tot wore his Captain America costume, but he stole the bigger mask and gave his dad the littler one. They are something!
Then we created a game around Captain America’s indestructible shield aka frisbee. Tot typically wins this game because no one can catch his insane throws. We’d have a lot more luck if we got points dodging the shield.
Captain America Shield Toss
- For each catch you win 1 point.
- For each miss you lose 1 point.
- The first person to 5 points wins!
Since we go a little easy on our throws to Tot, it’s obvious who always wins this game! It can be a lot of fun when you have multiple players; which is why we can’t wait for Big Brother aka Ultron, to come home for the summer!
Since Black Widow is super fast, we decided that we’d put two of our favorite games together Hide & Seek and Tag Your It for her game.
Black Widow Hide & Seek
- The person playing Black Widow must hide and everyone counts to 10 before they go look for her.
- Once she’s found, start running and trying to hide! Whoever gets caught is the new Black Widow!
Little ones can be pretty hilarious when they try to hide in the open. Sometimes I wonder if he is just trying to get caught so that he can be the one who chases me.
I’m currently creating a BINGO themed MARVEL’S The Avengers: Age of Ultron game to use with the Cheez-It’s when the movie comes out on Blu-ray!
We don’t have Thor, Hulk, Iron Man or Ultron yet, but you can make up your own character #AvengersUnite Family Games and share them with us! I bet having a little Hulk smashing game would be super fun! And after all the games you can sit down and have a snack to build up your superpowers.
