~I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for McCain Foods. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.~
I’m pretty sure my children’s love of McCain Potatoes started with those cute SMILES, crispy potato outside – mashed potato inside. My husband picked them up years ago and then their potatoes became a regular item in our freezer. We each have our own favorite, Judah loves the SMILES, Teen is all about 5 Minute Fries (because anything longer would distract him), my husband loves the Seasoned Cross Trax and I could eat Seasoned Spirals with anything!
There are of course many different kinds of McCain Potatoes, including 100% Natural Potatoes that are great for including in casseroles or side dishes. The Whole Baby Skin-On Potatoes, Russet Potato Slices and Shredded Hashbrowns seriously cut down on the time it takes to wash, peel and cut enough potatoes for your family. You can use them for all sorts of different recipes, including desserts (like Potato Cake)!
Every week my family has what is called a “Free For All”, which really boils down to whatever I can make from what is left in the fridge. The kids can pick whatever they would like for dinner that day and in this case my Tot chose pasta and my Teen wanted steak & rice (since we had left over steak). I always have McCain Potatoes in the freezer since they’re a great side dish to have on hand. No artificial colors or flavors and made from wholesome ingredients and natural potatoes. As potatoes are a regular side dish in my home, it’s nice they have a lot of variety, including Sweet Potatoes!
What is also important to me is that supporting McCain Foods by purchasing their products is also supporting the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform (SAIP), an organization created by the food industry to actively support the development and promotion of sustainable agriculture worldwide; which McCain Foods is a member of. They also give back to our communities and are socially responsible. All of which are very important to look for in companies that you want to support through your grocery list.
Speaking of groceries, McCain is having a Grocery Goodness Giveaway on their Facebook Page where they are giving out $500 Grocery Store Gift Cards! And anyone that enters can also print out a $1 off 1 Bag of McCain Potatoes coupon, which is a great deal!
It’s really easy too. All you have to do is enter your email (you can opt in or opt out of special offers from McCain Foods) and share with your friends! Then you can print out your coupon and viola! Wait to see if you are a weekly winner!
Having family dinner is really important to us. It’s the one time we all are actually together in one spot without conflicting schedules. Having that time, even if you could only do it once a week, matters. Most of the memories I have all revolve around the central area of the kitchen table, where everything happened and where the generations grew one by one. I want my kids to have those special memories that are lifted up by the warm spicy smells of our kitchen and also know that there can be fun in sharing time together with something as simple as a SMILES or a Seasoned Spiral potato.
Have you tried McCain Potatoes?
