Twinkling lights, jingling bells, shiny packages, and hopefully a dusting of snow are all part of the wonders of the holiday season. Often times these simple wonders are overlooked with all the flashy gadgets and newest electronic toys that are the “must haves” of the year. This year, bring back the magic of Christmas by adding some simple surprises under the tree rather then just checking off the wish want list. How about giving your children some gifts that will encourage imaginative play? In fact, why not splurge and let your little one have that pony they have been dreaming of…
MyOwnPet Balloons is all about imagination. Kids of all ages love to pretend, whether they’re taking their new pet Pony for a gallop, their penguin for a waddle, or their purple, pink and white Bunnies for a hop around the house. Best of all, there’s something for everyone: Puppies, Dinosaurs, a Pot-Bellied Pig and more.
Well, it may not be the exact pony, but My Own Pet Balloons are a wonderful substitution to the real thing and you will not regret your decision as these pets do not need to be house trained. Besides, when else would your kids have the opportunity to have a pet reindeer or even a penguin? We were giving the opportunity to review the reindeer and I am so excited to have this waiting under our tree on Christmas morning. Luckily, my daughter is young enough that we could play with the toy a bit to test it out and then tuck it away for her to re-discover on Christmas.
The balloon is made quite well and has welded seams that help it stay inflated. I honestly thought the first time my daughter went to hug the balloon, it was going to be a goner, but it has held up to her hugging, kissing, and yes she even nibbled the reindeers tail. She hasn’t tried to ride or jump on it, so I’m not sure if rougher play would be too much. It is still a balloon after all.
Before my daughter could play with the balloon, it did need to be filled with helium. This can easily be done at most supermarkets in the floral department or at the party store or florist. The balloon will last for a few weeks and then it can be refilled to keep it alive. This could easily make a trip to the grocery store a fun trip for your kids as they can be responsible and “take care” of their new pet by giving them a much needed drink of helium.
After filling the balloon with helium, it won’t float up to the ceiling and out of your child’s reach. Instead, the feet are weighted to keep the balloon grounded. This allows the pet to “walk” as you pull it along by the ribbon leash. Our reindeer actually seems to “prance” along and my daughter was intent on making sure her new pet received adequate exercise by adventuring all through our house. In the video below, you can see how she was obviously busy with her new pet and didn’t have time to stop and play with mom.
Overall, I am very happy that the balloon hasn’t been destroyed and it will actually need a refilling prior to Christmas morning. It is also just so cute to see “walk” around and has definitely kept my daughter occupied for longer than 5 minutes. My hubby often works with desert tortoises and I think a pet desert tortoise for his office would be a great reminder for him to not stress. If he needs a break, he could take it for a little walk and I’m sure that would lighten his mood.
There is still time to give a gift that will foster your child’s imagination and will bring a smile not only to their face, but to yours as well. With so many different “pets” available, there is bound to be one that your child would love.
