Yesterday we spent the day figuring out how to make Judah’s new wall / reading space. My husband really didn’t want us painting the wall, which kind of took away our ability to follow directions and make the wall look like the other My Wonderful Walls – Forest Friend Theme’s. So we had to think and think and think about how to do it…
The Forest Friends Kit came in a protective cardboard tube, wrapped in plastic and unrolled easily. The wall decals are made from SafeCling™, an innovative fabric adhesive material that is easy to apply and virtually impossible to mess up. I have proof of this! They’re also made with a natural/organic look as if each were made from beautiful handmade paper. It really sets it apart from other decals, the softness and durability of the fabric adhesive and the unique crushed paper appearance; both of which I absolutely favor over all the decals I have had the chance to review and purchase myself.
Now I said I have proof of the SafeCling™ durability, I’d go so far as to say it’s Toddler Proof. My son really, really wanted to help us put the wall together and he had some great ideas! At first I was worried because all the other wall decals I’ve worked with easily ripped and/or stuck together like glue if folded upon itself. Then I realized that the thickness of the adhesive fabric made it simple to separate if it stuck together as well as kept it from being easily ripped. My son was able to remove them himself and set them where he wanted to without concern about them being ruined. I could just remove them later and place them where they are supposed to go.
He loved that he could be a part of it and watched as his wall transformed from nothing into something fantastical, he calls it his ‘Beautiful Wall’. He’d dance around his room, “helping Mommy!” and it was so much more fun with him! I’ve never had wall decals that I could do with him and he saw them as giant stickers, so this was a great family fun activity!
One thing my husband came up with was to decorate his door. His door opens to where it becomes a part of the wall, so if we decorated it correctly it’d be a great entryway into that part of the room.
Then once the door opened it would just become another part of the whole.
The wall decals were as easy as it shows in the video to place. In fact, I didn’t have to use a plastic squeegy at all and there were NO air bubbles. Oh, I hate air bubbles, they drive me crazy.
They’re simple enough for a toddler to apply, but once on the wall they stick really well. You can remove them and place them elsewhere, but the more you move them the more the adhesive becomes less durable. Make sure you aren’t moving them around a lot and also make sure your wall is clean. Also, the wall stickers don’t work as well on textured walls, so before you purchase a whole kit you can request a sample to see if it works for you. If you think you might at some time move the whole wall mural (in case you are renting your place and/or moving in the future) keep the white backing paper and place them on there to make sure the adhesive remains tacky.
We had so much fun decorating Judah’s new wall. We’re on a mission today to find a fluffy green rug for the grass and tomorrow I’m hoping to show you how everything turned out!
