Ore-Ida Potatoes are one of my weekly pick-ups at the grocery store. I’m in love with their french fries, you know they make like a half a dozen types of french fries: seasoned, crispy, extra crispy, sweet potato, curly, waffle… and most are actually made with low to no total or trans fats. I wouldn’t go as far as saying they are exactly a ‘health food’, but they aren’t as bad for you.
Now Ore-Ida has a new product out that brings with it the best of summer, grilling! Ore-Ida’s Grillers – Thick Cut Potatoes are made to go on the grill and spice things up a bit!
You can get them in Golden Thick Cut Potatoes or Seasoned Thick Cut Potatoes (my personal favorite) and they sit right on the grill with your cheeseburgers, hot-dogs and BBQ. You know the difference between baking frozen potatoes and frying frozen potatoes are the crispiness level. Frying them gives that outer crisp that baking can’t quite match, but baking is healthier for you because it’s using less grease. This is the perfect medium because they come out just as crispy as if you fried them, but better for you because they’re grilled! Absolutely fantastic concept.
They are certainly thick cut, the seasoned ones with the black pepper, herbs and spices are my favorite. I’m really big into seasoned potatoes, but my tot doesn’t really like them so I’m glad there are two options. I also don’t think I could have pulled anything off like this with a regular potato and it probably would have taken a lot longer than the 15 min it took to go from frozen to yummy goodness on the table. Though, that is honestly why I buy a ton of Ore-Ida potatoes. I can generally get them at the grocery store for 2 for $5 and they last a lot longer (and are generally more cost effective) than just a large fried potato product at a fast food restaurant.
You can also bake Ore-Ida Grillers, just in case you don’t have a BBQ Grill or you don’t want to go outside when it is 105′. I don’t blame you! I did try them baked the other afternoon and they are just as yummy! They take a little longer than a grill, but not by much.
You are really going to love these new potatoes from Ore-Ida! So next time you are getting your grocery list together, consider picking some up and trying them for yourself!
