I have been experiencing heartburn/acid re-flux for months now and man oh man am I in some discomfort. It really hits me at night time, right as I am trying to relax and nestle in for the night….hiccup hiccup….burp burp….ouchy ouchy ! The ever so uncomfortable feeling of acid creeping up my throat ! Nothing I take or do makes it go away either. It even gets so bad that I have to get up to go heave ho in the ‘ol toilet 🙁 yuck.
My poor husband must be so tired of my tossing and turning. I get home from work around 2 to 2:30 am and get my nightly routine all in order along with kisses goodnight to the kiddo’s. I crawl into bed and of course it takes me several minutes of tossing and turning before I find that sweet spot and then BOOM it hits! Up again and to the bathroom I go or into the living room so I can be sitting upright. Then back to bed to replay the same routine over again with finding that comfy spot of mine.
I have tried avoiding certain foods and spices, over the counter meds, prescription meds and unlucky me doesn’t seem to be getting any relief. I have had this with all of my pregnancies, for some reason I always seem to forget about how bad it gets until BAM I’m pregnant again and here comes the heartburn/acid re-flux interfering with my eat and sleep schedule.
Due to my lack of appetite from this little “illness” we’ll call it…I have been losing weight with this pregnancy! Now this I haven’t experienced in the past, I had always gained a healthy amount of weight and have managed to keep a little appetite throughout. This go around is different, I am eating, just smaller portions more frequent throughout the day hoping to ward off any pain from the heartburn or the throwing up. So far this hasn’t worked and shortly after I consume some food, I’m sick to my stomach and in pain or hurrying to the bathroom!
I know I’m not the only one who goes through this while being pregnant!!! Any tips, suggestions, or remedies that seemed to work for you while you had this awful phase???
