~I received a Philips AVENT DECT Monitor to facilitate this review. Opinions and stories are my own.~
I obviously don’t need to tell you that I don’t have a baby. What I do have is a very curious little boy who can be awfully quiet in the morning, understands how the doors work and doesn’t always wake me up. I have always had this terrible fear of him deciding to wander off, which isn’t uncommon with ASD children. I am sure there are many mother’s just like me who feel the same way.
I can assure you that this product gives the same peace of mind to parents with infants and I believe you’ll agree once you read the amazing features the Philips AVENT DECT Monitor SCD570 offers.
First of all, it has a Parent and Baby Unit. The Parent Unit has a range of up to 50 meters indoors and up to 330 meters outdoors. Of course this varies on surroundings, however, as it has DECT Technology it guarantee’s no interference from any other transmitting product. This is a secure and private connection between you and your child.
It also allows you to talk to your child with Talk Back! Sometimes all they need to hear is your voice to calm down. My son loves the fact that we can talk to each other over the monitor. It also comes in handy when you want to take a nice long bath at the end of the day, but you are worried that your child will need you. If they wake up you can tell them Mommy is coming, without falling over yourself. I know every mother has done this at least once! Needless to say, we use this feature a lot in our home!
Other features on the Parent Unit are:
- Temperature Sensor with customized alert that allows you to monitor the climate in your child’s room.
- LED Light to Signal Noise levels.
- Customized Vibrate Option: You can monitor your child even while it is in MUTE by using the Vibrate that alerts you every time the sound reaches a certain level.
The Baby Unit Features:
- Night Light & Lullabies: 5 relaxing tunes to help put your little one to sleep.
Any time my son is napping or sleeping, the Parent Unit is near me. I can hear him clear as day no matter where I am in the house or outside in my yard. The monitor is actually quiet in comparison to many others since it doesn’t pick up unnecessary noise, which allows you to pick out every nuance sound or movement from your child. This is one of my favorite features of the Philips AVENT DECT Monitor.
The temperature control has been extremely nice with the roller-coaster ride of weather lately. One day it is 80′ and the next it is 40′, so it’s nice to be able to monitor the temperature in his room to know whether he is too hot or too cold. He still hasn’t mastered pulling up his blankets and sadly will lay there in the cold until someone covers him up, so this is a blessing to make sure we can keep him comfortable.
For newborns this is essential as well. Keeping your baby comfortable at night, being able to be alerted not only by their voice but an alarm (or vibrate) when they need you ensures that you’ll be be there when it’s important. Most of all though, I love how the it brings me a bit more ease to work at night or watch my favorite shows. I’m not so on edge when I take a shower or go outside when he’s napping and it’s fun to talk back and forth when he wakes up and wants to know I’m up and waiting. That peace of mind is genuinely priceless.
