~I received The Pout-Pout Fish Goes To School for the purpose of reviewing. Opinions and stories are my own.~
We are in full on school preparation mode around my house. With my oldest attending real school for the first time a.k.a. kindergarten it means big changes for all of us! I have been reading her every children’s book about school that we have and ones from the local library. She gets more excited with every one I read. The Pout-Pout Fish faces a bit of anxiety in the newest book in the series, The Pout-Pout Fish Goes To School.
In this book we follow, Mr. Fish, when he first went to school a long time ago. If your kids are feeling a bit nervous they will see they aren’t the only ones. This book is just as cute and enjoyable to read as the others in this NYT-Bestselling series.
The illustrations are absolutely adorable and this is a rhyming book which is my favorite type of book for this age group. Even though Mr. Fish fears that he just can’t learn what the other kids are doing he soon finds out it is alright to be new and you have to be taught stuff before you can know it. This is one book I don’t mind Big Sis asking me to read over and over again because even I enjoy the story.
Both Deborah Diesen and illustrator Dan Hanna will be hitting the road for a fall tour. Unfortunately they will not be stopping anywhere near me but you should definitely check them out if they will be near you!

My daughter loves this book and has told me multiple times now that she has nothing to be nervous about and she can’t wait to start school. Of course reading her several books about how awesome school is doesn’t hurt either. This is the perfect book to help get kindergarteners excited for their first day of school.
