If you’ve been following for awhile then you know how important Oral Care is to me and my family. Throughout a large majority of my life I’ve battled with dental issues that has cost me several thousand dollars, not including the cost on my health and self esteem. I never wanted my children to endure what I have endured in my life and so it is one of the strongest things we push towards; especially since dental issues can be genetic.
One of the battles I’ve had over time is from having Calculus (tartar), the build up of calcium on teeth, mainly on the lower back bottom teeth which is where I have issues due to an overbite. Plaque turns into tartar and you may have seen them as small white spots on your teeth that slowly go away with seriously vigorous brushing or a dental cleaning. This can all be prevented (and in some cases removed) with a battery operated toothbrush. Like most things in my life, however, I learned after the fact. The deposits I have on my lower teeth have loosened them and in some places replaced the tooth all together and so I was always concerned about using anything but a manual.
I’ve looked at Sonicare toothbrushes for a long time, but the cost always seemed so out of my budget; especially with a family of four. You could argue that in the long run it saves money at the dentist, but trying to pull up toward $400 out of my pocket for toothbrushes when we had bills or groceries just always seemed impossible. Then Sonicare came out with a family affordable toothbrush (under $20 at Walmart!), the Sonicare PowerUp and it has changed everything for me!
The Sonicare PowerUp is incredible. It’s designed to be easy and gentle on your teeth while removing more plaque in a day than your manual brush can in a month! Philips Sonicare even provides a Warranty on your toothbrush AND has a satisfaction guarantee; I’ve never seen that on a toothbrush before! Although I was a little nervous (silly for a woman of my age, i know!), I was pretty excited to have the chance to try it out – not only for you, but also for my family. The first time I brushed with the Sonicare PowerUp my mouth felt so clean that I couldn’t even imagine going back to a manual toothbrush. As for my bottom teeth (which are a little loose and concerned me when shifting away from manual), they were perfectly fine. The Sonicare PowerUp doesn’t ‘push’ your teeth anymore than a manual does, it simply brushes them more thoroughly.
In fact, it reminds me of how a bumblebee removes the pollen from a tomatoes flower by vibrating over 400 cycles per second until the pollen releases, it is so effective that tomatoes have adapted to pollination almost singularly to bumblebees. The Sonicare PowerUp toothbrush is capable of removing more plaque from teeth and gums by the power of its vibration and rotation of the toothbrush on your teeth and gum line. Maybe our teeth are adapting more towards battery powered toothbrushes over time when our diets have dramatically changed? It is certainly an upgrade from decades of using the same old thing.
So what did I wind up doing with my manual toothbrush? Well… it was still really good at removing things, it just now removes the film on our fish tank every month. There are lots of ways to re-purpose your old toothbrush, from cleaning grout to removing gunk from your garbage disposal. It’s really time to upgrade and now with it being affordable, well it would be kind of silly not to.
