I had just dropped my boyfriend (now husband) off at work, I was on my way to class and heard on the radio that a plane struck one of the towers, I knew instantly it wasn’t an accident, I just had that gut feeling in my stomach. The radio dj’s were talking as if it may have been an accident, and then the next plane struck the towers. I got to my dorm room and was watching the news when the next plane struck the pentagon. I remember being terrified! I thought the world was going to end. I’ve been known to overreact at times, but I really was terrified! Talks of war followed, being 19 at the time, I had visions of the war taking place on US soil. Thankfully that wasn’t the case.
September 11, 2001 will be a day we will never forget. I remember as a kid, hearing my parents/ grandparents talking about remembering where they were when Kennedy was assassinated. Just as they remember that, I think most of us will all remember where we were when the terrorist attacks happened.
It’s hard to believe its been 10 years. My heart aches for the families that have lost their loved ones on that fateful day. Parents lost their children, Children lost their parents. Babies never even had the chance to meet their parents. Spouses and newlyweds left alone. The world may have moved on, but we will never forget! So I ask this….. Where were you on September 11th, 2001?
