4th of July this year is kind of bitter sweet. It happens to be the last one before my teenager turns into an adult come October and represents both American Independence and his own. We’ve all been working throughout the year to get him prepared (or as prepared as one can be) to take on a great deal of personal responsibility. One of those things is looking for work so that he can be financially independent. For this to happen, he needed a good Smartphone on a great plan that he could eventually afford himself once he found work. I knew Walmart Family Mobile had great Unlimited Talk, Text and Data Plans which would save us a lot this summer. Plus, I knew our Walmart was hiring for their new building! You know I love when things come together so nicely!
I called ahead to make sure our Walmart had the LG Leon. It’s a beautiful little smartphone with Gesture shot, KnockOn, QuickMemo+, Full HD Camcorder and a 1.2 GHz quad core processor. Cody was pretty excited about it; especially since you could just grab the phone at the Walmart instead of having to endure an hour or more at a contractor site. I showed him how he could activate his phone online or by calling. It’s really fast and takes less than 10 minutes!
I’m glad that we got the Lowest Priced Unlimited Plan too, the service is $29.88/month (for the first line) with Unlimited Talk, Text & Data service; which includes up to 1G of 4G LTE data. I could afford to carry it until he got his first job and I knew that it would be low enough that he could handle it on a first job salary.

The day he got his phone squared away with a new number, he went off looking for work. I was able to keep up with him wherever he was and let him know of places that were around his location. He then spent the evening looking (and sometimes applying) for jobs online since both Browser and Chrome are available on the LG Leon.
He’s growing too old for us to take care of everything he wants and this is one small way he can garner his responsibilities. When Independence Day comes, both our nations’ and my sons’, I’ll be ready – to celebrate and to be thankful in so many ways.
If you’d like to find out more about Walmart Family Mobile, head over to the shop and check out all the plans! I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July and that you celebrate and be thankful for our freedoms, even the ones that are personal.
