~I received free products in order to host a Disney Side Home Celebration. The opinions expressed here are my own.~
I can admit it…in my little family we are complete Disney fanatics. We are constantly showing off our Disney Side whether it is Disney themed article of clothing, watching a movie, playing a board game, playing with a doll or even hitting up Disney World on the weekends with our annual passes. We have so many Disney things in our house that you can’t look in a direction without seeing the magical influence in my house. We do live in Orlando so we have close proximity to the parks but you can still celebrate your Disney Side right at home. We decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a Sophia The First Celebration at our house. Some fun themed decorations and food is a great way to spend time with family and friends while spreading around a magical good time.
Sophia The First is a REALLY BIG deal in our house. I have 6 and 3 year old girls and the story of how Sophia became a princess really caught their attention. She lived in the village with her mom but then her mom and the king fell in love and got married. Sophia joined the family and gained a step-brother and step-sister that are royalty. By marriage Sophia is royalty now too. My girls continue to watch the show because it follows their daily lives in the castle as well as the children going to Royal Prep Academy which is just for princes and princesses. Sophia is a really sweet girl and her magical amulet lets her talk to animals. Many little girls dream about becoming a princess and for Sophia it really happens. Our magical Valentine’s Party included tons of things Sophia related and every single little girl at the party loved talking about Sophia as well as all the other princesses.
Of course any party needs dessert and drinks! Any cake turns into something a little more special when it is made in a Wilton Mickey Mouse cake pan with Tie Dye cake mix from celebrity baker Duff Goldman by Gartner Studios.
Cake success. The pan actually comes with great instructions on how to make it exactly like the picture. Since my 6 year old did all the decorating we did it solid chocolate instead. I thought it turned out cool.
The cake pan doubles as an adorable food tray. This is my kind of theming as it was super simple yet really cute.
Of course princesses also like tea parties. Twinnings of London is naturally caffeine free so it is good for even tiny princesses. I even brought out little teacups that I found at a garage sale for our tea party.
We had a makeup station set up so everyone could really sparkle. Everybody got her nails painted as well as some lip gloss. As simple as this was it was easily the most popular thing to do. Little girls just love getting their nails painted. I was thrilled to paint their nails because nail polish has always been one of those things I really like. You could even say as I was growing up it was the one girly thing I was into. Otherwise I was all tomboy. My little princesses could not be more opposite.
Each girl also got to make their own hair clip with the My Ribbon Barrette Maker. We already have a few MYFBM items and they always work so well. My girls are crafty and really enjoy making stuff like this.
When played pin the smile on Mickey and I also taught a new generation the awesomeness that is making a paper fortune teller. This activity instantly brought me back to elementary school and the hundreds of these things I made.
I am one of those moms that cleans up as soon as the party is over. Otherwise I loose all motivation to do so and let it sit there for too long. Even with my small family of 4 the laundry piles up quick. These all mighty pacs got everything clean, even the aprons that got tons of food dye on them from baking the cake.
All I of the stuff I did to have my successful party can easily be re-created in your own home. There are so many themes to pick from such as Cars or Monsters Inc. for boys or Villains for teenagers. This was a great way for us to bring the magic of Disney home.
Make sure to request a Free Disney Vacation Planning DVD. It shares with you what all the fun attractions and parks are as well as where you can stay based on what location you choose. I know my family is heading on a Disney cruise in April and we ordered the DVD and were even more excited for our trip after watching it. You can also build your own Disney cartoon family on the Build Your Disney Side website. Does your family have a #DisneySide?
