~I received Silikids items for the purpose of reviewing. Opinions and stories are my own.~
It seems that more and more there is a huge focus on toxins in things that we give to our children to use whether it be toys or drinking and eating utensils. We all want what is best for our children and it can be hard to decipher all the information out there on the subject. For me I have taken a more gradual approach to eliminating plastics from my daughters’ feeding instruments that was until I was introduced the brand new all SILICONE feeding line from Silikids. It is a mom-founded brand focusing on children’s products made entirely of SILICONE and glass. Silikids combines need-based innovation with the technological advantages of SILICONE. The brand focuses on designing safe, modern and practical products offering a new function, while being easy to use and keep clean.
Co-founded in 2006 by Stacey Feeley and Giuliana Schwab, two moms who learned about the toxic chemicals found in plastic feeding accessories and who made it their mission to do something about it. The duo created the first mom-founded brand focused on creating children’s products that are toxin free, hypoallergenic and made entirely out of silicone. Here is their video so that you can learn a little more about Silikids.
These products are amazing. They are sturdy, they work great and best of all is that they are dishwasher safe even with the silicone sleeve still on the glass. I just don’t like using products that can’t go in my dishwasher.
Silikids formed a strategic partnership in 2014 with The Arnold Center, a non-profit community rehabilitation organization based in Midland MI that was incorporated in 1967. The Arnold Center’s mission is to help improve the quality of life for individuals with differing needs by encouraging and supporting personal growth and inclusion in the community through the development of vocational, social and life skills. The Arnold Center oversees assembly, warehousing and shipping for Silikids.
The bumps of the decoration on the silicone help it so little hands don’t drop their glasses. The sippy cup top fits right over any small glass to make the perfect sippy cup for my 2 year old. It offered plenty of suction to hold on and not slip off. Of course the glasses are still in fact glass so I don’t let them go running around the house with them. The silimap is very generous in size and we have now started using it to teach Big Sis the states. They also offer a bib that would be great for younger children.
In caring for the planet, a conscious effort is made to produce products that last and promote reuse. Packaging is minimal, and silicone can be recycled at specific recycling centers. Customers can even send their Silikids products back to Silikids and they will have it recycled for them too!
I genuinely love these glasses so much that I went through my cabinets and threw away every plastic sippy cup that I owned. I have had enough of sippy cup valves and washing all those tiny crevices. These are simple and they work. I like that I don’t have to worry about toxins or chemicals in the glasses they use to drink with. They have a new siliskin bowl, silispoon and silibag coming out this Spring and I can’t wait to see what they look like.
